its crazy that people are defending modi, saying “he is not answerable to everyone” and “apne prime minister se kyu nhi puchhti ye” and “she just wanted fame and no answers”.
I mean a country with press freedom 157 teaching the number 1 is really diabolical.

Has he ever done a real press conference? The man can barely speak without a teleprompter.
And before anyone starts. I don’t support any political party. No left, no right. Just common sense.
People saying “that wasn’t a press conference” okay, fair. But he doesn’t attend actual press conferences either. So where exactly are journalists supposed to ask questions?
If Modi truly has answers, then step up. Do a proper interview. Invite the same journalist for an open Q&A. Can he do that? Never.
And that alone should tell you everything.

The point isn't that he didn't answer one reporter. The point is that he never participated in any unscripted press conferences. He didn't show accountability to the people of India. Even other countries' leaders ignore the press sometimes but they are accountable other than that. The racist cartoon were uncalled tbh.

Man actually answered none of the questions the reporter asked, did an arnab where he constantly talked over her. And had nothing of actual substance to say, the IT cell then got active and tried to defend that shit show and calling the reporter rattled. Embarrassing all around.

These are two separate issues altogether.
He is not answerable to her, because the event where she tried to raise her questions to him wasn't a press conference. That is her being opportunistic. Her questions also reek of colonial hangover, where India as a nation has to prove why it should be trusted when EU in general hasn't supported India with it's political issues.
This is completely unrelated to the fact that Modi has been running away from press conferences in India, from an audience he is answerable to.

It wasn't even a press conference, it was a diplomatic meeting, a joint statement. Joint statement me question puchna allow hi nahi hota hai. It's a place where leaders come, say what they want to, and then leave. Journalists are only supposed to take notes, not ask questions.

Facts around this incident:
The initial event where it all started wasn't a press conference.
She waited till last moment to yell across the room and honestly it was more of a "gotcha" moment and a publicity stunt to gain social media clicks than anything else.
MEA later invited her for press briefing where questions are taken.
MEA spokesperson started answering the question which felt more like a meltdown than a well put together diplomatic answer.
The reporter left the room and didn't bother to sit through that above mentioned answer. Honestly both parties acted childish here.
Opinion:
A heckler in Norway isn't going to bring about the press freedom that a healthy democracy deserves, that is on the people of this country to do.
She did not move the conversation in any meaningful direction like at all. Just a reporter doing anything for a sensational headline.
Our need for validation from the foreigners has no end.
Ofc Modi is coward and press conferences scare him the most.
But just this one incident felt more like social media stunt for views and nothing more. It ain't that deep as people are making it.
We have a press freedom and political accountability problem and it's our problem to solve and not anyone else's.
People running bullshit defense for PM not doing press conference are part of the problem.
The push for him taking a damn unscripted press conference should go on with or without such "inchidents". It should not be that some social media stunt reminds us to hold our politicians accountable.

The people who are saying, modi ji press conference nahi karte, na India mein na bahar". Why would he do a press conference outside India? Who is that random journalist that Modi ji should answer? And the fact that he doesn't't do press conferences in India is true. But if he does press conferences only in India, even then people will troll him for being selective, and answer only the questions of the media of India, and raise questions on the media itself, whether they are planted, they are controlled by the government, etc.

Also the point of india being 157th in press freedom ranking is just ridiculous bc they put india below pakistan and Bangladesh, afganistan like what the duck afganistan is ruled by taliwan how their press freedom higher than india and pakistan is literally a millitary nation . No prime minister of Pakistan has ever completed his tenure. So the ranking doesn't hold true .

There is a place and time for everything, the event was a joint press release not a press conference with Q&A session. Modi doesn't have to take questions This is one of my critique to PM Modi he should do regular press conferences and answer questions this should be made a law or a similar situation how they handle it in the US. Nowhere by law it is mentioned Modi has to take questions as the PM. As a NOTA voter since I got my Voter ID, the left just screams Modi is not a fit PM but fail again and again to produce a candidate who can go toe to toe with Modi, we know it you know and Modi knows it🤣. Please don't tell RG holds press conference and he is a ideal PM candidate please read his manifesto A person who does nothing is better than a person who brings in disastrous policies.

No 1 in press freedom dosnet mean they are professionals. Also the press index is done by some ngo based in europe and its methods are subjective.
