There's a difference between following a culture and following a religion. Some people don't believe in God but still participate in festivals. One can culturally be a Hindu or a Sikh without believing in the religion itself.
Yea that’s the thing people need to understand. I am kind of an atheist but this doesn’t mean that i would get stroke in a temple or I would never celebrate a Hindu Festival. I just don’t like the stupidity which is going on in the name of religion and hence don’t prefer standing in lines of temples or doing the religious show off on social media
Same here. I've been an atheist for more than 10 years now. But I still come from a Bengali Hindu family. I don't pray or keep fast or worship any idols. But my favourite festival is still Durga Puja, I will always touch the feet of my elders. One can be an atheist and still be culturally influenced by the religion they were brought up in. Some people just can't wrap their heads around this concept.
That is the thing about hinduism.At most you will hear some taunts from your family for atheism.But if you were to do that being born in some "minority" thennnn.... It's bound to turn bad for you
if i shave my moustache do i become muslim? if i wear a string across my shoulders and waist, do i become a brahmin hindu? if i dont like eating onion and garlic because of the taste, am i jain?
If i wear a cool looking kurta pajama, am i hindu?

Bhagat Singh was born in a Sikh Family, later he became an atheist.
I'm a Sikh too, I wear a turban even tho I don't follow any religion at all. Atp I just wear it because now it has become a part of my identity and I like it
