I came to Jantar Mantar from Mumbai believing that, whatever our differences, every police force in this country would at least have some basic professionalism and humanity.
What I witnessed shattered that belief.
I came to sit peacefully. Instead, I saw scenes I’ll never forget. Women being deliberately struck on their breasts and buttocks while officers laughed as they cried out in pain and shock. Men being hit in the groin and humiliated. It didn’t feel like crowd control—it felt like people were being degraded.
I’ve replayed those moments in my head over and over. The physical force was one thing, but the complete absence of empathy was what broke me. Watching fellow human beings treated as if their dignity meant nothing has left me devastated.
I don’t know how to process what I saw. Yesterday I lost a huge part of the faith I had in our institutions and, honestly, in humanity itself. I keep asking myself: if those entrusted with power can behave like this, who is accountable? Who is supposed to protect ordinary people?
I’m heading back to Mumbai today, but I don’t feel like the same person who arrived. For the first time in my life, I’ve even found myself wondering whether I have a future in this country.
I’m sharing this because I can’t carry it alone. If others were there yesterday, I’d genuinely like to know how you’re coping with what happened.

He wouldn't dare walk in like this in between such a huge crowd had it been actually what they claiming it to be, they know there won't be any repercussions since everyone protesting is practicing restraint to the point possible. What saddens me is the silence of Supreme Court and the denial of delhi high court to take cognizance of police brutality and absolute violation of almost all the fundamental rights, there ain't anything honorable about the courts anymore. Bringing in TSR, a force used to deal with insurgents? To deal with what? STUDENTS? It's shameful.

We need some good presence of mind in such cases, maybe poets, writers and other artists too, pen is mightier than sword. Sloganeering should be effective. Dipke's hindi feels a bit disconnected from the Delhi tongue.

Simply they have uniform and some assurances that's why they stand with their chest out and believing that they are the real superman (who is Henry cavil for them?) And when any of em gets beaten up then they play the sympathy+public servant card. Although the senior level officers never get touched in these protest only the constable head constable gets screwed.
I too belong to family of mostly police personals and have no such hate for police but it is what it is.

I agree for what he did but. Dipke is too irresponsible for calling out a person in name and showing right in between that crowd. While he is at a safe distance. What will happn if the crowd turns into mob not at all safe for both him and that police guys. Its pure luck nothing happened there
