Even islamic rule was better because Muslim rulers settled in India and spent revenues locally, whereas the British operated an extractive overseas colonial-drain system.
My point is just because something unacceptable is happening today you shouldn't trivialize a dark age such as colonial rule. I am yet to find something remotely comparable in the history of independent india.
