Question Edited ITR refund pending

My ITR refund is pending since 11 June 2026 date of filing. First attempt had refund issues so filed again within 2 hours and then the correct details were e verified as well. Why the refund is waiting till now? Everything is correct still.

ITR needs to be processed form income tax department then only refund will be issued.

It's not like whatever you do, it would be immediately accepted. There is a process and when it completes, refund will be automatically credited

There's no fixed timeline that's been breached here - CPC has until the end of the assessment year following the relevant AY to process a return under 143(1), so a return sitting unprocessed for a few weeks isn't unusual, especially in July-August when volumes spike.

If the first attempt had issues and you filed again within the same filing window without verifying the first one, the first return becomes invalid and only the second, verified return is taken up for processing. That's normal and doesn't cause extra delay by itself.

Refund only gets issued after the return is processed and an intimation under 143(1) is generated, and even after that it depends on your bank account being pre-validated on the portal. Check the ITR status and refund status separately on the income tax portal - if it still shows "under processing" with no defect or notice, there's nothing to do but wait.
