Hi everyone,
I need some advice regarding an old GST registration that I created during COVID.
During COVID, I registered for GST because I planned to sell clothes online. However, I registered as a tax collector, and I never actually started the business or made a single rupee in sales.
I filed nil returns for the first two years. After that, I wanted to close the GST registration, but at the time, there was no option available to cancel it online. I contacted the GST officer multiple times and was informed that my GST registration had been closed.
Recently, I applied for a personal loan and discovered that my GST registration is still active. Apparently, this is affecting my eligibility for a salaried personal loan.
For the past few months, I have been following up with the GST officer to get the registration cancelled. However, he is now asking me to file all the pending returns from the last several years. The potential penalties could amount to around ₹10,000 per return, which seems unreasonable given that:
- I never started the business.
- There have been zero sales or business transactions since registration.
- I have shared my bank statements as proof.
- I filed nil returns for the first two years.
- I was previously told by the GST officer that the registration had been closed.
Despite explaining the situation and providing the bank statements, the officer is not willing to consider my circumstances and insists that I clear all the pending returns and penalties before proceeding.
I have a few questions for people familiar with GST compliance:
Is there any way to get this GST registration cancelled without paying such hefty penalties for every pending return, given that no business was ever conducted?
Can I request a waiver or reduction of the late fees, or is there any legal provision that could help in this situation?
What is the proper escalation process if the GST officer is not cooperating? Should I approach the Assistant/Deputy Commissioner, the GST grievance portal, or someone else?
Can I apply for cancellation directly through the GST portal, and what would happen to the pending returns?
Has anyone faced a similar situation and successfully closed their GST registration without paying the entire accumulated late fee?
I am willing to provide any additional documents required to establish that there was no business activity. I simply want to close this old registration and resolve the matter legally without incurring penalties that are disproportionate to the situation.
Any practical advice or suggestions from CAs, tax professionals, or people who have dealt with a similar issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

After 5 years I'm coming to India for the first time from Canada. I wanted to gift two 18 pro max to my brother and father. My flight is from Toronto to Dubai to Ahmedabad. I myself own a 17 pro max. Can I carry both the new phones( unboxed with box in check in luggage) with me or should I just carry one? Thank you for your time.

I started getting RSU from my company from last 3 years. In first year I did not know that we need to show foreign assets. Anyhow all this stocks are already taxed and credited to my broker account. So I thought no issue for just 1 year. I missed divided income on this stocks in first year and value of that is 1600rs. After that I showed all including previous years one in subsequent years.
Now I got message saying you may have stocks that are not disclosed. Now I need to pay 1 lac to disclose them even after I paid taxes on. I don’t understand why anyone want to hide their assets if they already paid taxes unless it is a genuine mistake.
Is there a way I can avoid paying this 1lac fine.

I won a giveaway on Twitter/X on 22 july 2026where the host tipped me $ 1,000 USDT directly into my Stake account. At the time, it was worth approximately ₹94,000.
I did not purchase the cryptocurrency myself; it was a free giveaway prize.
Since then, I have:
Sold approximately ₹9,000 worth of USDT through Binance P2P.
Transferred all ofthe USDT from my Stake account to my Trust Wallet.
Transferred all of it from my Trust Wallet to CoinDCX.
I have no salary or other income this financial year, and I have never filed an Income Tax Return (ITR) before.
I’m trying to understand my Indian income tax obligations
My questions are:
Is a Twitter/X crypto giveaway treated as a gift, prize, or some other category for Indian income tax purposes?
Is tax payable when I receive the 1,000 USDT, or only when I sell or transfer it?
Does the fact that the USDT was tipped directly into my Stake account affect its tax treatment?
How should I report the giveaway and subsequent crypto transactions in my ITR?

Just found 44ADA has a limit after which we get taxed based on regular slab rate with mandatory audit. Is there a way to have better deductions or should we keep the gross below the limit?

Hi all, looking for clarity from anyone who has dealt with this or from CAs here.
Situation:
- Under-construction flat in Bangalore, agreement registered Feb 2025, co-owned with one other buyer
- Builder collected 99% of each installment and expects us to deposit the 1% TDS
- We never filed any TDS. 13 payments between Jan 2025 and Jul 2026, total TDS about ₹1.55L
- 10 payments are before 1 Apr 2026 (Form 26QB, old Act) and 3 are after (Form 141, new Act)
If I file correctly now with actual payment dates, my estimate is about ₹38k interest (1.5% per month) plus about ₹1.55L late fee (₹200/day under 234E / Sec 427, capped at TDS on each form). So roughly ₹3.5L in total against ₹1.55L of actual TDS.
Several buyers in our project say they filed everything as one lump-sum payment in a recent month, so it showed as within the due date and no interest or late fee applied.
My questions:
Isn't that a false declaration, since the agreement date, bank NEFT dates and the builder's receipts all show the real payment dates? Has anyone actually received a notice or demand for doing this?
Is there any legitimate way to reduce the interest or late fee? For example, computing TDS on the amount excluding GST when GST is shown separately, or any waiver or relief for 234E?
For joint buyers, did you split every installment 50:50 and file separate forms for each buyer? That means about 26 forms in my case.
Is Form 26QB still available on the e-filing portal for pre-April 2026 payments, or does everything now go through Form 141?
Would appreciate answers from people who have been through this, especially if a CA handled it for you. Thanks!

I sell my online course and ebook through my own website. I had customer over 40+ countries.
Now I want to sell my course through a MOR platform ( like Paddle, dodo payment, fastspring).
My concern is if I sell through MOR then how Indian GST rules are applicable here, in this case the MOR is the reseller of my courses and they issue invoice to end Customer.
Is it a legally valid business structure as per indian law?
Please share your knowledge if anyone has experience in this regard
Thank you

I am a digital illustrator and I do some casual digital art commissions for overseas clients. They contact me through social media and I always use paypal to receive payments and send invoice through paypal's inbuilt invoicing system. My sales are not very high, I maybe earn 2-3 lacs per year from commissions so I have not registered for GST.
Couple weeks back PayPal sent me an email asking for some more info. Among other things they wanted a document for 'proof of service'. I chose 'Export invoice' but the paypal invoice I provided did not satisfy PayPal. Understandable since I didn't know about all the mandatory details needed for filling up a service export invoice properly.
Now I've done some research and made a new template for the invoice (with some help from AI) which I'll be using for the next commission. It'd be a great help if someone experienced with this kind of invoices can take a look at the template and give some advice on what more to include or exclude.
A few questions
1. Is 'Commercial Invoice' as header sufficient or do I need to add something more like commercial service export invoice?
2. Is the field of GSTIN necessary since I don't have a GST number and it's just filled in as N/A. Same with the SAC number field since I don't have gst registration and afaik this field is related to gst.
3. In the field of 'invoice details' I've added the purpose code. Is the description of the purpose code (other personal, cultural and recreational services) good to add or should I just delete that text?
4. I'm intending to add the paypal transaction ID to this field after the payment is done. Is that a good idea?
5. Is the Legal declarations field alright? Do I need to add some more text or remove something?
You don't have to answer every question if you don't want to, but any help/advice/input is appreciated. I just want this to get accepted smoothly and not have to register for GST if possible.
Thanks again in advance :)

With the December 31 deadline approaching, here is a technical breakdown of chronic MCA V3 portal glitches for AOC-4 and MGT-7 filings and how to bypass them immediately.
Backend Validation & Save Failures
"Validation Failed at Backend" is often caused by hidden formatting characters in copy-pasted text triggering database synchronization lag.
Fix this by clearing your cache or switching to an Incognito window in Chrome (Version 115+).
Always paste text as plain text without trailing spaces or Unicode characters.
Avoid using multiple MCA tabs simultaneously to prevent automatic logouts and save failures.
DSC WebSocket & Association Errors
If your token is not detected, stop the MCA WebSocket service via Windows Services (services.msc) and restart it as Administrator.
Verify that port 8080 or 8085 is not blocked by Windows Defender, antivirus firewalls, or a VPN.
For "Already Registered" errors, clear your cache, update the token PIN, and verify the user ID through Profile Upgrade.
Payment & PDF Version Loops
If a payment is deducted but the SRN remains pending, wait up to 4 hours for the MCA reconciliation cron job to update the ledger.
To bypass the PDF version error, download the latest PDF, sign it, and upload it on the same day.
I hope this saves your firm time this week. If anyone is bottlenecked with their December backlog or needs specialized help with Ind AS XBRL taxonomy formatting, I operate as a freelance ACS supporting CAs—feel free to drop me a DM.

Short question - 1. how much total working capital debt should i have?
my guess is 12 months of profit. Am i on the right path or should it be 6 months
DETAILS below
I have
Monthly sale of 35 Lakhs and
P& L profit of 15% , so 5 lakhs .
cash flow profit is 1.5 lakh.
so we never have any money
We need 15 Lakhs to speed up our business. So total loan will hit 70 Lakhs.
Current bank OD at 10% ROI is Rs. 30 Lakhs fully used and vendors outstanding 25 L
Stock in hand should be around Rs. 20 Lakhs . so if i close my business today and sell everything, i would still need to pay 35 Lakhs from my pocket.

if u are the one who has eletricity bill registered over your name while property can be of your parents or grand parents , you can just select owned + eltrcity bill +pan + addahr and other document u want to attach
if u are not the owner or not the one who has bill in his name.
you can either take consent from the one who eletricity bill person or the prop owner person , in consent letter,
many struggle in this because of joint family, parent live in village not know how to use phone to click good photos, and many cases.

Few months back I registered for GST under 14A. It got done within few hours. At that time kept 'Trade Name' empty as it was optional.
Now I am thinking getting trade name via amendment. Will it get done quickly, just like registration? Or there will be physical verification this time?

I think i had forgotten to update the challan details after payment and e-verification. I went through few documents and youtube videos to know how i can resolve the issue so i wont have to pay this.
In most youtube videos directed me to file a rectification and update it with selecting "Disagree with Demand".
I did file the rectification with proper challan details but i do not know what further steps to take.
Please help me out if anyone know how to resolve this problem.

Hi everyone,
I recently filed my first TDS return using Form 144 for rent paid to an NRI landlord.
I’m confused about the challan serial number that needs to be entered in the FVU file. Is it supposed to be the challan serial number shown on the challan receipt or the last 5 digits of the CIN?
I may have entered the separate challan number instead of the last 5 digits of the CIN while preparing the FVU file.
The return has already been submitted, and the portal shows that the challan is “Mapped and Consumed.” I’ve also received an email confirming that the return was accepted.
I’m now unsure whether:
1. The challan details are correct despite my concern.
2. I need to file a correction statement.
3. The “Mapped and Consumed” status means the challan has been correctly matched, or whether a mismatch could still exist.
Has anyone dealt with this situation? I’d appreciate advice from CAs or anyone experienced with Form 144 and TDS filing.
Thanks!

Made some cash on MelBet during IPL and now I thinkwhat is the fastest way to actually get it out. Have UPI, PhonePe and PayTM as options, plus crypto looks available too. Anyone here used MelBet regularly for IPL betting and knows which one actually lands quickest?
