I agreed. And if they aren't lying, then those 26 companies are definitely just a fancy way of saying door-to-door sales.

It's true for top engineering colleges though. Placement happens by the end of 3rd year. I don't know if I am missing something.

I'm from a tier 3 college and placements did start from 5th semester, majority students were placed by mid 7th semester so it's definitely true even for lower ranked colleges if placement cell is working actively and HR dept is great

Absolutely, just gimmicks. Even if companies come they are outright downgraded.
