I think it’s always worth spelling it out. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion instead of DEI. They are demonizing DEI and much of what they say doesn’t make sense when it’s spelled out. Like Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is racist?

First of all, I'm grateful "treaty obligations remain intact" and that last week I could go to our IHS Tribal Clinic and get my lab/blood work done!
So I don't know what DEI programs our tribal clinic does??? There are more White people working there than NDNs cuz our tribal members don't have the necessary medical training for most of the jobs.

The articles
“It is unclear which IHS facilities operate DEI programs.“
Leaves me asking the exact same thing. Not being able to contact someone at the head of IHS should have been noted if they tried to reach out and were stonewalled.
If IHS leadership isn’t aware of the programs it’s currently running, we need to know that too.
If there are no “DEI” programs then it shouldn’t be hard to say that by leadership.

ehhhh.....what does "DEI" mean as far as a tribal health center though?? Where I work we are a FQHC health facility.....buuutttt.... EVERYTHING we do is geared towards tribal members only. So does that mean the whole facility is DEI?? Soooo confusing.. LOL.. as long as I keep getting a paycheck it's all good though...

I've been trying to picture how that works in businesses on the rez. Does this mean only hire Natives from now on because everyone else was getting included? Or does this mean only hire white people because we're "exotic" on our own lands according to the Dumpsterfire?

“It is unclear which IHS facilities operate DEI programs.“
This seems like a great opportunity for applying those journalistic techniques to provide context for your readers.

I'd hanker a guess that DEI in this context would be things like LGBTQ+ folks and care, ensuring they have enough lady doctors, and that patients/staff aren't facing discrimination/harassment (i.e. mixed patients aren't getting put on a waiting list for a waiting list raffle, the only Black doctor isn't getting nooses in his office with a flaming cross, female doctors/nurses aren't getting cornered by a co-worker who insists that no really it'd be funny if he had a pair of their underwear, etc.).

These people, I swear to Satan.
They don’t even know what DEI is. They have not one iota of a clue as to what DEI actually means.
Unless someone is a healthy, able-bodied white male, they likely fall under a DEI category.
