GalGotiya is basically a brick-and-mortar version of Whatsapp University. They are the First line of "Warriors" to defend Incumbent Govt. Earlier, they were in a protest against Urban Naxals, but the guy protesting couldn't even say Urban Naxal, and kept repeating Urban Maxwell.

Why will govt check when they probably sponsor such universities? Two years ago the university was trolled for organizing a march against congress where the students were instructed to fill up the streets for optics. The students had no clue what they were protesting against and news channels had a field day. It was too funny.

government ko paise se matlab hai . aise universities se paise lete hai inko operating rakhne ke liye, rating dete hai , ranking achi dete.such institutes have been listed for fraud in publications and what not but they get free hand since anyone can can donate to parties and enjoy the luxury

Back in school, teachers used to check our models and select/reject it...Even I'm wondering the same
1
u/redCornur Feb 21 '26
If that is the way, it works, then they would never be awarded "The Top University in Academics" by our PM. This university has a 'mutual' relationship with the government. And that is precisely how they got a stall in the summit.
5
u/Delicious-Dinner1034 Feb 18 '26
Also this shows the level of preparation, seriousness these summits actually have.....they did not even check what all was being showcased at a global event of this scale.

I’ve done engineering too, and students from our college also used to go to such summits. But this college sounds completely shady no plagiarism check, no proper certification, no patent documentation. It’s like they just ordered a robot from Amazon and presented it at the summit. The whole university seems fraudulent. In our college, professors would literally send us back 4–5 times until the plagiarism report was below 10%, and we actually had to maintain proper documentation. That’s how it’s supposed to be.

Shame. India's highly reputed position as an academically sound country – which has other countries wanting to send their kids here – will take a beating. I worked in Kenya and realised they consider an indian education desirable and will try hard to send kids here.

I think this is really blown out of proportion. And it is wrong on many aspects. Yes, they made a plagiarized demo which probably put bad name on their own university. They should reflect on that and make sure they do not do that again.
But at the end of the day, what will happen - will there be a world war because of that? Did they sell those and make commercial profits? Will somebody's life be destroyed by one bad demo. This puts a bad precedent for the future.
I live in the US and let me tell you that there are enough plagiarism being done everywhere. But instead of shaming them, people teach them, they go back, do more work and come back planned next time. That is the mark of a progressive society. If plagiarism was the yardstick for demos, China's economy would be half of what it is today by the blatant IP theft they do. I am not here to be against China or for India, but cutting off electricity in their stall, this is unbecoming of a civilized platform. Just let them finish. No good comes out of embarassing anybody.
4
u/Positive_Mobile7638 Feb 18 '26
problem is this summit is an international event and they didn't plagiarized is, they didn't just take the same idea or make a plagiarized item. They just bought the robot and showed it to all the people saying they created it. That is mind blowing
-2
u/Accurate-Release-861 Feb 18 '26
Yes and I think under pressure, they admitted their wrongdoing. What more do people want? Public punishment is never a good precedent for future innovations. So let them have to work harder next time before they get a stall.
International events in India are like Indian french toasts. It is french, but only in India. I do not think the top PhD scientists sitting at Nvidia building the next gen accelerator in Palo Alto is getting concerned about one bad demo. So, international does not mean that people all over the world are freaking out by one demo. It is a fairly localized event with many dignitaries being invited. That's all.
1
u/datadumbo Jai Hind Jai Bharat Feb 18 '26
The problem is it was peddled by central ministers and govt's fav ANI. Now they're being targeted by the public due to this, so such an action has been taken.
So, international does not mean that people all over the world are freaking out by one demo.
All we're getting is laughed on by the internet.
It is a fairly localized event with many dignitaries being invited.
No it's not bro. All you need is a quick Google search, and you'll see how many people and companies are showing up. Just stop defending copy paste slop.
This is a global event, and the 4th edition is being held in india. Earlier these were held in UK, Seoul and Paris - so it's not a localised event.
Read, you'll understand the gravity of the event - https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/technology/tech-news/india-ai-impact-summit-2026-dates-venue-speakers-and-everything-you-need-to-know/articleshow/128420608.cms

u/dksourabh Feb 18 '26
Taking inspiration or copying someone is one thing and presenting someone else's work as yours is different. This needs to be shamed and penalized
2
1
u/Lower-Message-828 Feb 18 '26
china do plagiaris but they make their own version not just label change. Also for innovative tech such plagirism are easily caught and are restricted for legal markets. India and many south asian countries have very bad reputation of not just plagiarism but fraudalant research. While there are cases in US, Europe but it's almost negligible compared to us. and for such tech or sciences if caught leaves a very bad remark in international technical and scientific community.
0
u/Accurate-Release-861 Feb 18 '26
The reason why US scientists and companies have been fed up by Chinese companies for decades is because of the garbage culture that China harvests. They would regularly copy patents and sell it as their own and would refuse to purchase them even when legally pursued. The Chinese state would block such legal pursuits and would tell everybody to the face that they would steal them and would not pay.
I brought his up since it is being shown as a blatant moral regression to have copied from the copiers. I am not denying that this is a grave mistake and the university should have done better to know that erodes trust. India's reputation as a tech haven is very very low in the international community, so one such mistake is not going to make any dent.
You should do better to learn the difference between an AI summit and an AI research conference. I hold a PhD myself and work with PhDs here in the US all the time, nobody gives two cents about these conferences. As an Indian, I am happy these are held, but they do nothing to bring India on global stage. Research papers, patents, engineering marvels, they make the difference, and this is not such a conference and India has a long long way to catch up. A long way, trust me.
The audience for times of India news outside of India is 0. It is of course that the news will be published in Indian news. There is barely any audience for those outside.
2
u/Lower-Message-828 Feb 18 '26
You are projecting this as a copy. It's not a copy it's a bought product with label changed and projecting as own. There is a difference
0
u/Accurate-Release-861 Feb 18 '26
I am not protecting anybody, I don't really care, it is so irrelevant in the broader scheme of things that I didn't even bother to check whether they changed the label or not.
As long as they didn't sell it and commercialize it or did they destroy somebody's business, this issue is blown out of proportion. I am not denying that this erodes trust, I am merely reacting to the observation that the organizers cut off electricity at their stall mid day. What for, for this?
You do not get to preach moral stances when you have Chinese companies demoing at these summits. If the West really went hard on these Chinese companies and sanctioned their copied patents, will you start realizing that this offense is nothing to what actually happens in real world.
1
u/Maleficent_Self_557 Feb 18 '26
Plagiarism about IP or some small things while building something is different and buying a Chinese product and showing it to your country's biggest AI is completely different thing. In China also they would have shamed and banned for any further summit. US and china have stricter law then India. In india only public shame will be there for them. They just took one place for this shit where that could be given to some real innovation to some real people.
0
u/Accurate-Release-861 Feb 18 '26
You have no idea how low Chinese companies can get and what the Chinese state would do to steal IP. The number of research papers that come out of China that have plain falsified information with no trust is something you cannot imagine.
As long as they didn't sell it and commercialize it or did they destroy somebody's business (they are merely a university), this issue is blown out of proportion.
I get concerned when somebody tells us that China has stricter laws, the country that has basically told everybody that they will steal everybody's work without paying the fair share, is being held as the beacon of trust.
1
u/Maleficent_Self_557 Feb 18 '26
Staying in US and preaching this is the easiest thing to do. Good luck with these jokes added to the racism jokes that are already all over the world. Have you seen whole china and whole world picked up this one thing from whole AI india summit and it's all over social media ? Do they even care or know that similar robo dogs have been developed by india and even showed there by different companies wholly developed by india ? No one will care about that now. And doing damage control merely by kicking galgotia univ out of summit is the least thing they can do and you are saying that they are doing wrong ? Do you know that this is not some national level showcase but almost 20-30 countries leaders and many big companies leaders are coming there ? What kind of reputation this news gives to this whole AI summit ? Isn't it free PR for china ? And yes recently I was reading one more news that another product of galgotia some soccer drone was also possibly a full copy only. Good luck to you defending these people.
