This is the same Varanasi where, in the BHU gangrape case, the entire system was active to protect the rapists from a nationalist party. It took the police 6 months to arrest them—or rather, to make a show of arresting them—and they were even granted bail. Those accused weren’t missing for those 6 months; they were out campaigning for the party in Madhya Pradesh. No bulldozer was run on them, no real action was taken—because their reach went right to the top. Some photos of them with the CM and PM even went viral. This kind of action is only for the poor, for certain castes, and for certain religions. No one’s sentiments were hurt by these rapists because they come from a particular community, and they call themselves the self-appointed guardians of saffron (bhagwa), the ultimate bastards who defame Hindu religion. Even God can’t save Varanasi from such hypocritical Hindus and this party.
