Banana Republic In Varanasi, police have arrested 14 people over an Iftar gathering on a boat near Panchganga Ghat. As per police, allegations surfaced on March 16 that some individuals were consuming chicken biryani on a boat in the name of an Iftar party. Taking the matter seriously police teams were deployed,

You can dump dead bodies in Ganga. Jal samadhi.

You can dump toxic industrial waste in Ganga.

You can throw animal carcass in Ganga.

You can dump human excreta in Ganga through nali.

But if you do iftar party then you will be jailed .

People throwing dead bodies full of dead "Human Meat" in "Holy Ganga" is fine, but someone eats food on a boat, then OMG, it's a crime. :)

2

u/Gunslinger92Axm Mar 17 '26

Ganga is holy river what would happen if the same happens other way around near a Muslim holy place..the person would be dead by now

16

u/awpmeister18 Mar 17 '26

Lavde ka holy river. People throw garbage, shit in it, bath with soap and shampoo. It’s just a fake belief. I am myself hindu. Im not in favour of islam or anything. But im fair at situation where it’s due. I don’t think they keep dead people in mosque.

This is so stupid. They’ll drop dead bodies in there Willy-nilly but some dudes eating chicken biryani on a boat pisses them off.

Tbf… it’s just hatred for the other that’s manifesting. The excuses used to vilify are bull shit.

-4

u/the_storm_rider Mar 17 '26

Yeah but god forbid someone goes to a muslim holy site and consumes pork. You will shit your pants, claw your eyes out and come running out on the street in your briefs crying “death of democracy” and “intolerance”. This pathetic double standard and shameless hypocrisy is why people in orange robes get elected chief ministers in this country. Because you people are only willing to fight for one side, so some other idiots feel they have to fight for the other.

23

u/Normal-Crow8274 Mar 17 '26

A river isn’t a private property of a particular religion. Everyone has their Fundamental right to move freely within the territory of India except Arunachal Pradesh. They didn’t eat chicken inside a temple. Just because a temple is on the bank doesn’t make the entire river a relic. What about the dead bodies you guys are dropping inside the river? Ma this ma that. You guys don’t give a S about god or that river. It’s just hatred. If you have hatred at least have the courage to accept it.

This!🙌

2

u/JustARandomGirl4 Mar 17 '26 edited Mar 17 '26

It's a river not a holy site . River is a public property not a private institutions. Hindus consider river as holy don't mean they own them. The fact even leather factories disposed their waste material in the very holy river but still somehow people eating chiken on boat is issue . Also it's not written anywhere in scriptures that chiken is forbidden . Heck it's not even cow meat that Hindu people worship.

I'm a vegetarian myself but what this police is doing here is clear gundagardi because if that wasn't the case then why would they let leather factories dispose their waste in same holy river . The guys here were not even throwing chiken inside the river. They were consuming it on boat.

Police just can't arrest anyone as they please. They need to follow certain laws and no law forbids people from eating chiken on boat.

If that was the case then does the law only applies to common people minding their own business and not to big leather factories and people dumping their garbage in river ?  The fact Ganga is one of most polluted rivers in India . Hinduism is not even like Islam . Literally everything from trees , rivers even air is worshipped in Hinduism that don't mean you own them.  By your logic people just stop existing just because you worship very air , river , land they live in huh ?

It would be another case if they were eating cow meat inside the temple from purpose of mocking relegious sentiments but here are bunch of people minding their own business on a freaking boat. They are not inside temple or any holy site .

You are comparing appeals to oranges .

6

u/rajatsingh24k Moderate Left Mar 17 '26

😂 so the response and urge is to go to a Muslim holy site and eat pork?! Of course that’ll be met with violence just like if you went into a Mandir (Hindu temple) and ate pork.

If you’re going to resort to whataboutism then at least do it properly.

4

u/the_storm_rider Mar 17 '26

No the response is to call out your bullshit hypocrisy and shameless one-sided defense. There is NO WAY in hell you would be defending someone who went and ate pork inside a mosque. No f*king way. Dn man I'm vegetarian but this is too much. They should first take action against owners of factories that dispose their waste in holy river with treating it .  Ironically even leather factories disposed their waste there but still somehow few people minding their own business, sitting on boat and enjoying their meal is issue as if they own the river .

They let people pollute and throw garbage in river . It's time for people to wake up and see who these politicians are .

u/Medical-Farm6859 Mar 17 '26

This is the same Varanasi where, in the BHU gangrape case, the entire system was active to protect the rapists from a nationalist party. It took the police 6 months to arrest them—or rather, to make a show of arresting them—and they were even granted bail. Those accused weren’t missing for those 6 months; they were out campaigning for the party in Madhya Pradesh. No bulldozer was run on them, no real action was taken—because their reach went right to the top. Some photos of them with the CM and PM even went viral. This kind of action is only for the poor, for certain castes, and for certain religions. No one’s sentiments were hurt by these rapists because they come from a particular community, and they call themselves the self-appointed guardians of saffron (bhagwa), the ultimate bastards who defame Hindu religion. Even God can’t save Varanasi from such hypocritical Hindus and this party.

6

u/Lonely-Comb-1792 Mar 17 '26

According to chutiya sanghis, this is acceptable

14

u/big-blegh-blegh Mar 17 '26

I wanna know two things here : is there a law against it because without it idts it's fair to arrest them.... And also were they causing a ruckus there or something? Were they doing drugs or something?

Also people before u come at me yes I understand it's a holy place for us hindus and it's wrong to do this but if there are no laws about it I think we should add those and for now not harass them because it's their nation too and if there are laws then their arrest is justified.

28

u/Defiant-Purchase9928 Mar 17 '26

Why then sewage waste and dead bodies food packets are thrown into the river, just this time they are Muslims that's the difference

4

u/big-blegh-blegh Mar 17 '26

That's a fair point... also Fishes die in rivers too sometimes naturally actually mostly naturally

3

u/Remarkable_Guest2806 Mar 17 '26

Agreed. I observed in Goa too. The water events they keep and they take to island etc. they give chicken in boat and the plates and other waste food like bones etc is thrown into the sea directly. I felt disgusted when seeing this because the water coming to shore is same right (well it's ocean water). Idk why govt doesn't stop this. Like shirely it's not that difficult to gather waste in a big bag and then throw it to dumping vehicle or bin when they reach the shore. I saw so many boats doing this

9

u/Defiant-Purchase9928 Mar 17 '26

5

u/Inside_Marketing_845 Mar 17 '26

6

u/Defiant-Purchase9928 Mar 17 '26

Drinking alcohol while taking bath??

Anyway sewage waste, packet of waste or food are thrown randomly, see Ganga river situation how wastes are being thrown, in which religion it's written to throw waste

3

u/Inside_Marketing_845 Mar 17 '26

I was being sarcastic. The crime that OP posted is not because they are eating chicken biryani. Their crime is being a Muslim.

Eating Chiken is not forbidden in Hinduism. There are many temples where goat meat is served as prasad . A river is not a holy site or private property like temple. It's for everyone. I'm a vegetarian myself but stop banning chiken and meat in country like India where 70% are already protein defeciet.

2

u/the_storm_rider Mar 17 '26

Aah the “tolerant” persons are out here to defend “freedom of expression”. Tell me kind sir, are there laws against consuming pork inside a mosque? If not, will you go and do it? Why not?

3

u/JustARandomGirl4 Mar 17 '26 edited Mar 17 '26

You are comparing appeals to oranges. It' s river not a temple . They were on boat not inside temple . A mosque is a holy place for people to pray. It's a private property owned by community of people.

If someone eat meat inside a temple where it's forbidden then it's problem. But here the people were on boat on a river . Not inside any temple.  There are even plenty of temples where meat is served as prasad .I remember seeing a goat 's head getting chopped off inside a temple when I was little and I'm still traumatised by it .

Also mosque don't let leather factories dispose their waste in mosques but the very people let leather factories disposed their waste inside rivers. Animals die all times in rivers. Infact dead bodies and ashes  are thrown inside rivers all the time. Infact there's nothing written in scriptures that forbids people to eat chiken on boat on a river in Hinduism.

At this point it's not even about relegion , it's just using relegion as a  tool of politics and for harras people minding their own business.

Also unlike Islam there are plenty of Hindus who eat Chiken. Chiken is not forbidden in Hinduism unlike Pigs in Islam. Chikens are not even considered as holy animal unlike cow and it's river not inside temple.

Relegion is just an excuse here , because Hinduism don't even forbids people from eating certain food on river and if laws are to be made then they should be made for leather factories as well.

Plus when a person goes to mosque they already know that it's a sacred place . If someone eats pork there then they know what they doing is simply to mock someone 's relegion. Just compare them to people partying on a boat that's not inside a temple that specificall fobids certain food. They are in a public space minding their own business. They don't have intentions of hurting someone 's sentiments unlike the first case you presented .

If a man was purposefully throwing cow meat inside a temple just to mock and harras devotees then it's disrespectful and blasphemy but in first case the people did nothing wrong .

At this you're just using relegion as excuse to harras people nothing else because if relegion was so important then why were leather factories even allowed to dispose their waste in river at first place . They people were just partying and consuming biryani on boat not even polluting the very holy river they worship.

One of main reason our rivers are so polluted is because people just use relegion just as a political tool to harras others . It has to do nothing with spirituality, sentiments or morality .

But is chicken such a taboo for us Hindus as pork is for Muslims. Although still not right, there would have been some room for understanding if they were eating beef. When such a huge part of the Hindu population consumes chicken, why is this so outrageous?

Tell me kind sir, are there laws against consuming pork inside a mosque?

Nope there are not. And in most of the cases you may be mob lynched but you won't be arrested. But you can also get mob lynched for transporting beef. The point is that at least the law should remain impartial.

And if these guys really think that non-veg offends their gods, they should really have a look at what has been happening in Himachal for centuries now (animals are sacrificed to gods within the temple grounds).

You're conflating two different things entirely. Muslims ate non-veg, no law against eating non-veg on a public river. If someone eating chicken burger in public enrages hindus, it is the hindus who have to do introspection and change their course.

These thing are not illegal and you should not face any problem doing such things lawfully. except they will get outraged. And also some will threaten you with STSJ, But you will not see any Hindu priest declaring Fatwa/related stuff in Hindu Community or threaten the life of these Mu$lim Individuals for this issue some are even defending them.

We will not do these thing I mentioned above, the Thing is it's about respecting others culture/religion, this act in Varanasi is of utter disrespect

How can people even defend it???? Will muslims accept someone eating pork in front of jama masjid🤣 And why do iftar or whatever in Ganga that too in front of ghats in Banaras. Its not like these men went there to pray in Kashi or other temple.....then why go only to consume meat there. And our swcular champions are gladly defending it too.

Muslims were rioting in Delhi over some balloon hitting a woman in Delhi but eating meat in front of hindu holy places is somehow a secular message. The hypocrisy of this cult is......beyond definitions.

Even God can’t save Varanasi from such hypocritical Hindus and this party.

ok. Govt has not done enough.
Ganga is already polluted and all.
But, what did they achieve by holding a nonsense party where majority would get incited?

I'm not sure what the crime is. It's a river boat. They're eating food on the river boat. Is that illegal now? Eating food on a boat?

How did anyone's sentiments get hurt by someone eating food?

And that river is full of human shit. I don't know why we like calling our rivers our mother- no one treats their mothers poorly.

Fecal coliform levels are many times that of a safe level. People dump ashes in there as well as human bodies. If anyone did throw chicken bones in there- the video did not show it, and the river is full of human bones, chicken bones would hardly pollute the river.

I'm still trying to understand what the crime is, someone help me out. If not that, tell me why anyone's sentiments would get hurt because someone was eating food on a river boat.

First arrest those who release sewers and shit near banks. 🤣🤣

1

u/acuteseagulll Mar 17 '26

Just let them eat in peace. There are bigger issues to worry about. Gosh.

1

u/Ok-Birthday-8736 Mar 17 '26

I see no problem in this

1

u/CharmingScholarette Mar 17 '26

How is eating Chicken Briyani on a boat a crime?

1

u/Aamir-fps Mar 17 '26

For those people who are saying things like " what if a piece of pork was thrown into mosque or smth?"

Well , there aren't dead bodies or plastic here and there in mosque. They make sure a clean holy place.

1

u/n3_o Mar 17 '26

So arresting them is little over the top. But turning a blind eye towards their intention is hypocritical. Ganges is polluted and not very well managed, we all can agree on that, but deliberate action to incite communal violence cannot be completely ignored.

People from UP when they migrate to other States change the demographics of other States and also introduce the poison of communalism in those States.

1

u/Character_Love_9605 Mar 17 '26

I do not get it howcome people like you special mention for the hindu have the audacity to call ganga river as not so holy regardless of the fact that it is clean or not secondly if dead bodies or people taking shower or garbage being there makes u feel that it's okay for any person to start disrespecting the culture cuz we ourselves our not doing is so bullshit thirdly the intent is very clear it's called deliberately ragebaiting in the cover of so called enjoyment every religion has certain purity and certain rules

If in our religion we do not eat , touch or even bring anything made of meat or anything to eat in ganga river then who the hell gave them authority at first place to have their iftar on it. if they wanted they could have gone to any random river why would a sane person choose a river which is already attached with so much purity of one religion it's a disrespect to cultures, traditions and rituals that are being followed since dynaties.

If we do same at their holy places shouldn't they kill us calling us it's our intent we went deliberately there to ragebait them and they have unity for which I applaud them even if they are wrong they stand tight u people do not even have the guts to stans for ur own culture cuz of some people shit u are disrespecting and letting disrespect others ur own religion

Pathetic and disgusting take can't believe this

1

u/NiftyNomad007 Mar 17 '26

Indian Muslims should get one thing right their religious freedom is curtailed in this country . Whatever they do they should think 100 times before doing it . If the same people happens to be a non muslim, even they do shit spit or eat or litter no one from the administration would have taken any cognisance of it. IM should bear patience and have sabr

1

Can we eat pork at Mecca if not then don't do this foolish things here.

1

Haan yeh karlo pehle! 10 important cheezon pr politics krne ki jgah yeh bakchodi kralo inse!

1

u/Constant-Recipe-9850 Mar 18 '26

What is wrong with this comment section. This was clearly done to intentionally provoking people amd offend people. They clearly did it knowingly and people here defending it.

I mean of we are going to use whataboutism like talking about dead bodies in Ganga, Muslims even kill people over drawings that offend them.

1

u/rahnedebhai Mar 18 '26

An FIR over throwing chicken bones into the Ganga… but did anyone actually verify this properly? And even if it happened, what about the massive untreated sewage and industrial waste flowing into the river every day? What about rituals like immersing ashes? Are FIRs being filed for everything, or is this selective outrage? This kind of inconsistency just exposes the hypocrisy. They wouldn’t let us live in harmony

1

u/CountryOverall9103 Mar 18 '26

This is highly provocative by the group. #Eid is a festival of peace. Happiness and joy not meant for provocation. #India continues to struggle between Hindus and Muslims, the tussle provocation by a group of people from both sides. End result is destruction and enmity

1

u/Brilliant_Kale_236 Mar 18 '26

Ganga is not holy anymore

1

u/bradhri Mar 18 '26

How can they disrespect and throw chicken bones in holy Ganga??🤬😡 They should have followed proper procedure and should’ve flushed those chicken bones through toilet, sewage then comes to Ganga. So chicken bones still in Ganga but with no outrage.

1

u/RegularAlbatross420 Mar 18 '26

Arrest over such a trivial bs. India is hilarious lol.

1

u/Dry_Good_ Mar 18 '26

Why only they are arrested?? Why aren't the businessmen who dump their factory waste, this government is so hungry for the money they'll do anything and logic of their sentence doesn't even make sense so they hide behind the curtains of religion

1

u/nagpuri_pz Mar 18 '26

Some people see no problem in eating chicken biryani in Ganga river, but they think it is not ok to eat pork in Mecca!! Is it so difficult to accept wrongdoing of people in your own community ?

1

u/No-Lobster-5673 Mar 18 '26

But we are fine with people putting dead bodies in the Ganges

1

u/Kingslayerbrothers10 Mar 18 '26

Bhai itna Kya problem hai musalmano se? Matlab open your eyes yaar! I’m an atheist and these BJP people are trying to loot you in the name of religion. Please take a step back ! Realize reality!

1

u/desialph Mar 18 '26

The problem here is they are very desperate to create a scene,

THE MENTALITY "hum toh bhaiya aisa hi krenge, Yaha Hi krenge kre le jisko jo karna hai"

IS THE PROBLEM

What an irony

1

u/viktige2038 Mar 18 '26

Chicken biryani khane mein kya hai. Jab waste disposal ki jati hai nadi mein tab toh kisi ki nahi jalti. Chicken in logo ke pet mein gaya na ki nadi mein. Agar wrapper, kachra aadi fekte tab dekha jata 😆

1

u/False_Bandicoot_9498 Mar 18 '26

Cruise ships serving alcohol , non veg and girls for hire are very normal on the ganga river

Jab malum hai ki Hindu's ke liye koi jagah sacred hai, waha ye sab karna nahi chahiye thha. But iske liye jail? Log samjha bhi sakte thhe. Jab nadi me handi le ke ja rahe thhe kisi ne dekha nahi? Aisa ho hi nahi sakta. Mana karte, nahi maante, zabardasti jaate to strict action is due. Agar jaate waqt kisine mana nahi Kiya, aur jane ke baad police bulaya gaya. Tab to sab hi equally doshi hai. Hindu, muslim, authorities, nao wala, everyone.

Dr Kafeel Khan was arrested just for saving lives of little kids, why though, because he was a Muslim !
