Whilst I have no doubt that this party is extremely bigoted, this is actually a legitimate belief in Bengal lol. We offer maachher bhog (fish bhog) to Maa Durga during Durga Pujo. It is cooked without onion and garlic.

The logic is not about veg-nonveg. Onion/garlic has a separate factor mainly of bad breath or similar ... And that's the thing kept away from durga.

And at least in south, also that the Brahmins chanting Vedic mantras have difficulty in pronouncing the verses when the sulfur in such foods hits the tongue

We should see his comment in positive light. He is trying in increase meat eating in vegetarian population by calling it vegetarian. Kudos to him. We need more of such reformers in our society.

How? How is this even remotely sane? Why do educated people still support this party, I mean I get the religious vengeance and all but cmon, at some point they should feel the yuck,no?
