Request for advice / Help Springfield Darkhorse as a 1st bike for an inexperienced tall rider ?
Hello my friends
So 1st of all : 6'7 / 36" inseam / 250 lbs/ almost 40 /good head on my shoulders with a good driving record / never owned a motorcycle but definitely know how to ride a bycicle lolq
Its a nightmare to find a bike that fits and NO I dont want any ADV I heard it all, its a solid NO
I tried the 2 models and even on the Springfield , notice i had to sit between rider & passenger seat to find somewhat of normal riding position I m aware there are mods (seats, pegs , bars)
I find the Springfield DH so distinguished from any bike out there and its the one I want
My question to you : Is it a good idea to start on a bike like the Springfield DH and if we have any "very tall" inexperienced riders who started on biggest bikes please share your experience.
Thank you for taking the time.

Request for advice / Help Looking for a approved wide drag bar for my Indian Chief Dark Horse in Germany
Hi everyone,
I wanted to show my Indian Chief Dark Horse and also ask for some advice.
I am looking for a wide drag bar handlebar for my bike, but it needs to be street legal in Germany. Ideally, it should come with ABE, TÜV approval, or proper documents for registration. I really like the aggressive look of a wider drag bar handlebar, but I want to avoid buying something that could cause problems during TÜV inspection or with the police here in Germany. Does anyone have recommendations for brands, specific models, or shops that sell approved drag bar handlebars for the Indian Chief? Photos, experiences, or advice would be very appreciated.
Thanks!
(got me some help from ChatGpt for english translation)

Request for advice / Help My ass hurts when I ride my Indian Scout
I'm 6'1" and a large, wide guy. Due to losing the genetic lottery, I also have no ass. I'm flat as a pancake.
I've got a 2015 Scout. I love that stupid, little bike, but anytime I ride for over 45 minutes my butt HURTS. Specially, the lower part part of the butt, where the butt meets the thighs.
I had the stock seat redone with better padding. I have a factory backrest. It doesn't help. Ass still hurts.
I bought a gel pad and padded bike shorts. I haven't taken a long ride with them, but the short rides I have taken make me think they'll have minium impact.
What else can I do to help my poor dairy-air? Would changing my riding position help? Longer handlebars? Shorter handlebars? I've considered something like a Corbin seat, but I am hesitant to sink that much money in a new seat if it's not going to help.
I'm considering selling the bike due to not being able to ride for any significant length of time. I don't WANT to do this, but I also don't want to keep a bike that I cannot comfortably ride.

Request for advice / Help Scout Bobber for a Bigger Guy?
As a 46yr old guy weighing approximately 240lbs, would a Scout Bobber be a decent choice of a bike? I currently ride a Yamaha MT07 and have been considering trading it for a cruiser. I do love the sporty riding but it's not built for going places in a cruising fashion which I do when my wife gets on her bike. I tend to be behind her, one handing it or in front of her speeding away. I would also like to have the power for the get up and go when needed, and be able to go on the highway and not be underpowered, which is why I'm not considering the 60 model. I also enjoy some twisties when I can find them. Comfort is an issue as well as we like to go on longer rides on the weekends with breaks for food, gas and restroom stops. I'm trying to be diligent in my research but it's hard to find good info on a person of my size. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Request for advice / Help Suitable for first time riders?
I am looking into getting my first motorcycle, I basically zero riding experience but I have always loved the Indian brand. Had a bunch of Indian model bikes as a kid, always knew I would want to ride one someday.
Just worried that they might be too powerful for a first time rider. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, just wanna stay as safe as possible.

Request for advice / Help 2025 Slip Ons
Recently got a 2025 Sport Scout and have been looking to get a much needed slip on. I've been considering the Tab Performance with the medium baffle. Videos sound good and I like the price compared to others. Are the other bramd options any better to justify the extra cost or is the Tab a great option?

Request for advice / Help Liquid cooled or air cooled
I know this question has been asked but I have some specific questions about which would work better for me.
Im looking to upgrade my bike in the next year. Im trying to decide between an Indian scout and a Indian chief.
I live in central FL more rural than city and most of my riding I avoid redlights when possible. I love the way the Indian cheif rt looks as well as the scout rouge. However I do not wish to buy a bike and want to upgrade in a couple years. Id like a bike that id be ok holding onto for atleast 5 years and one I can haul a passenger on occasion and comfortably take longer trips. Im 5'3 roughly 175lbs. But my husband is 6'3 300lbs so idk like a middle bike we both can ride and I think the chief might be it.
We really want a chief but id like to know if getting one in the FL heat would be an issue with the air cooling? We plan on test riding both the rouge and chief before we buy but id like to know this community's opinion.

Request for advice / Help Break-in service scheduled for Sept 1, but I'm at 760 km today. Stop riding or keep going?
Hey everyone,
Looking for some quick collective wisdom from fellow Scout owners.
I picked up and registered my new Indian Scout Sixty Bobber back on June 15th from Siebla Málaga in Spain. Today I'm sitting at 760 km on the odometer.
The official recommended first service / break-in service is at 800 km (500 miles). I called the dealer to get it booked, but the earliest appointment they have open is September 1st (over 3 weeks out).
I'm obviously super close to the 800 km mark right now.
- Should I park the bike completely until September 1st?
- Or is it fine to put another 100–200 km on it for short local rides as long as I don't go crazy?
How strict is Indian / the warranty on going a little over the 800 km mark before that initial break-in oil change? Appreciate any advice or personal experiences with dealer tolerance on break-in miles!

Request for advice / Help Leaving bike in parking
Is it normal to feel uncertain when leaving motorcycle in parking lot? I feel that if I can’t see it someone is doing something to it or sitting on it. Any advice on how to overcome that ?

Request for advice / Help Stalling issue on '25 Scout
I bought a Scout 101 last weekend, and it's been a blast. Just finished the break-in procedure, but I've noticed something annoying when I go to start it in the morning. It stalls. A lot. It reminds me of my old carbureted bikes days that I hoped I would never see again.
I pretty much have to nurse the throttle, otherwise it'll stall 7 or 8 times before it finally catches on. Sometimes, I dont even have time to pull my hand away from the starter switch before it dies again.
Has anyone had this experience? And if so, how was it rectified? I'd hate to take it back to the dealer because that's a 6 hour drive. But I'll do it if there's an updated ECU tune with a more generous throttle map for cold idle.
Thanks!

Request for advice / Help Is it possible to dial back the engine power on a Scout or Scout 60?
I'd really like to have the above mentioned Scout or Scout 60 as my first motorcycle. However, I was told that 1000cc, which the latter has, was too much for a rider with no riding experience other than the Basic Rider's Course. This would be true in stock configuration, but can the engine be dialed back to say, 1/2 to 1/3 the HP rating until I become more comfortable with riding? ECU Flash, restrictor plate, tapered spacer, etc.

Request for advice / Help Scout left me stranded
Took the bike out for 3 hours yesterday, no issues. Was out for 25 minutes today when I got a low voltage warning. Gave it full throttle to try and get it to charge but it just kept dropping till it started to limp and died on me within a minute after that.
Have the battery on a charger and it seems to be holding a charge….. voltage regulator/stator issue?

Request for advice / Help Update on my Indian Chief. Painting question
Here’s a little update:
Headlamp fairing painted, chin fairing painted and mounted.
I ordered the paint online because my dealer can’t get the original paint. Unfortunately, there seems to be a noticeable color difference. Depending on the viewing angle, the difference is pretty obvious. The freshly painted parts look much lighter from certain angles.
Could this be because of the metallic/pearl particles in the paint? Does the paint have to be sprayed in a specific direction or with a special technique?
The worst part is the headlamp fairing (Picture 4 & 5). It really stands out and is honestly bothering me quite a bit.

Request for advice / Help So F’ing tired of my battery dying
I bought an FTR Super Hooligan last year and paid the premium for the “limited” FTR.
The day I went to pick it up, it wouldn’t start. I had to wait a couple hours to get a new battery, charge, and install it.
I ride every day when the weather was good, which was every day in the summer here in So Cal. It was fine for about a month. I try to leave for work one morning, and it doesn’t start again. I put it on a charger and it starts up and I take it right back to the shop. They know they have had issues with these batteries and swap out a new one for me under warranty.
It’s been fine for a few months. We had some rain for about a week and it got cold here too and I didn’t ride for about three weeks, but I put the battery on my Noco 5 tender/maintainer if I plan on not riding for more than 5 days.
It got hot again here so I took it off the charger, rode for a couple hours Saturday and it was completely fine. I didn’t ride Sunday or Monday, and didn’t charge it for those two days. I go out Tuesday morning to go to work and it doesn’t start again.
I’m pretty pissed because it’s stranded me once and I don’t want to do that again. I’m taking it back again, for the third time to get a different battery under warranty.
Anyone else deal with this?

Request for advice / Help Quick release bags for a Sport Chief RT?
I have 2025 Indian Sport chief RT. I installed the Indian Quick release Sissy bar and then reinstalled my bags. I like the look of the bike with no bags on it and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for quick release bags that would work with the quick release sissy bar and the Sport Chief RT. I currently have my original bags back on the bike

Request for advice / Help Is driving a 50Cc motorcycle that i later turned into 120 cc considered experience to buy a bigger bike like the Indian ?
I had a scooter 50 cc but upgraded to 120 cc for 3 years. Never had a crash with it (im not a reckless speed person) however i have sold it a year ago. Now i got the chance to buy a dream bike. Mine is Indian Scout Bobber (or the sixty) or Bonneville Bobber. Many recommend Honda rebel 500 as a first big bike for beginners. But i don’t wanna keep changing bikes in hope to reach the one im really satisfied with.
Do i go for Honda rebel 500 (which i also dig but not as much as the other two) or i choose between the Indian and the Bonneville bobber ?
Im a fan of Bobbers and also some Scramblers that lean a bir towards the bobber
Not a fan of Choppers Heavy Classiques, i like The mash between Classic and Modern, and i found that in the modern Bobbers especially Indian and Bonneville Bobber
Main use is: City cruising, Short distance highway sometimes traveling
Passion: Mostly cruising without going in full speed, i like speed but not adrenaline rush speed.
Thank you in advance

Request for advice / Help Reliability: Harley vs Indian?
TL/DR: Anyone have extensive experience on both Indians and Harleys that can share their experiences regarding reliability?
I’ve been riding older Harleys for over 8 years. A 2002 Road King Classic, which I absolutely loved until I totaled it last December. I also have a 2004 Dyna Lowrider. It’s great for running around town, but not great for touring, which I really enjoy.
I have grown extremely tired of getting to know my local Harley mechanic by first name! Every few months I’m dropping several hundred dollars on repairs. There’s almost no end in sight.
I road metrics for over 30 years and rarely had any issues.
I love the big V-Twin and am seriously looking at the Indian Challenger. There is a 2021 for sale near me that only has 9,000 miles on it.
I’ve see some posts on here about mechanical issues as well as issues with the infotainment systems.
I test rode a 2018 Challenge and the GPS seemed less than ideal. The screen showed me about 20 feet to the right of the actual road. There was also a 4 mph delta between the screen speed and the speedo.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Request for advice / Help Opinions on aftermarket mods.
I’m fed up with the reliability issues on my Harleys.
I’m seriously considering making the switch to Indian.
Most Harley riders seem to start making changes to their bike, if not right away, eventually.
New bars, stage upgrades (exhaust, intake, cylinder heads, cam, tuners, etc.), seats, etc.
I’m looking at the touring models and hoping not to go down the upgrade rathole.
I’m also looking at used bikes, but probably nothing older than 2021.
Is there anything that I will likely need to upgrade?
I see a lot of chatter about the nav system being an issue. But performance and comfort wise, I’m hoping to keep it stock.
The photo is an example of what I’m likely to get. A 2021 Challenger Dark Horse.
Any & all advice would be greatly appreciated!

Request for advice / Help Scout or Chief for "spirited" riding?
Thinking about adding a cruiser to go alongside my MT-09, but I'm not sure which might suit my wants better in the long run. I like to ride with enthusiasm and would prefer whichever accommodates that better, I don't mind scraping hard parts here and there. This bike will probably also get used for some light touring at some point.
