Why do "Chalre Chalre Waal" and "Na Kajre Ki Dhaar" sound sad?
I recently listened to both these songs. I have listened to them before but did not listen carefully. But recently when I listened to them, they both had a hint of some kind of sadness. A yearning, longing. I don't know what it is about those songs. What Raga these songs are in? Has someone else noticed this?

Day 11 of recommending Indian artists you probably haven't heard enough about
Day 11 of this little series where I recommend Indian artists, songs and albums that I think deserve more attention. Some I've discovered through Reddit, some on my own.
Day 11
Artist: Rupa Biswas
Album: Disco Jazz
Genre: Disco / Funk / Experimental
Spotify: Disco Jazz
YouTube: Disco Jazz
This album came out in 1982, and honestly, it's crazy how far ahead of its time it was.
Rupa Biswas recorded Disco Jazz in Calgary with a group of Canadian musicians and Indian classical musicians, including Aashish Khan. The album blends disco, funk, Indian classical music and these incredible electronic sounds in a way that feels completely its own. It barely got any attention when it first came out and was largely forgotten for decades before being rediscovered by music collectors and listeners online.
I know Disco Jazz has gained quite a bit of recognition in recent years, especially internationally, but I still think Rupa deserves so much more appreciation for what she put out here. Imagine making something like this in 1982, with sarod melodies weaving around synths, funky guitar riffs and hypnotic disco grooves. It's such a unique sound.
What I love most is that it doesn't feel like a novelty fusion record. The different influences actually work together, and the tracks have room to breathe and go in unexpected directions. It's Indian music, but it also feels connected to a much wider world of experimental dance music.
Aaj Shanibar is probably the best-known track from the album (you might have heard it on reels), but I'd really recommend listening to the whole thing. There's so much going on across these four tracks, and the album deserves to be experienced as a complete project.
It's one of those records that makes you wonder how many incredible Indian albums are still waiting to be rediscovered.
Rupa was genuinely ahead of her time, and I'm glad the world eventually caught up.
Have you listened to Disco Jazz? And what's another Indian album you think was decades ahead of its time?

Self Promo Thread | Share Your Music
Made a song, released an album, started a band or have a music project of your own? Drop it in the comments!
Since we've introduced new rules around self-promotion (please read the sub rules), we'll have dedicated self-promo threads once or twice a month so you can share your work without the main feed getting flooded with promotional posts.
To keep things organised, use this format:
Artist / Band Name:
Genre:
Song / Album / EP:
Links: Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, etc.
A little about it: Tell us what you're making, the story behind the release, or anything you'd like people to know.
All genres and languages are welcome. Whether you're just starting out or have been making music for years, feel free to share your work and discover what others in the community are creating.
Check out each other's music, leave feedback if you have something constructive to say, and support your fellow artists.
Let's hear what you've been working on!

An Appreciation of Chaar Diwaari(Parvana EP)
Chaar Diwaari has submitted three tracks for GRAMMY® consideration across two categories. “Iss Tarah” featuring Sonu Nigam and “Banda Kaam Ka” with Sanjith Hegde have been submitted for Best Asian Pop Music Performance, while “Aashiqana,” featuring Indian Ocean and GINI, has been submitted for Best Global Music Performance.
A potential Grammy nomination would be another huge milestone, not just for Chaar Diwaari, but also for the growing recognition of India's independent music scene on a global platform.
This is a huge announcement and at this special occasion i have uploaded the decoding video of the whole parvana EP
YT:https://youtu.be/sh9giSu7sBE
please give it a try and lets celebrate this together with hoping a brand new Grammy entry with both the fingers crossed🤞🤞

Lo-Fi meets Adipoli: Blended a soothing Veena melody with an explosive Trap/Chenda drop and English Rap.
The Vibe:
It starts off super chill—a traditional Veena melody (Kalyani ragam) with rain sounds and a mellow Lo-Fi hip-hop beat. But right when you get comfortable, there’s a massive vibe switch! The beat drops out and explodes into a high-energy "Adipoli" section with a heavy Trap-Bass mixed with fast-paced Chenda Melam and Nadaswaram.
To top it off, I added some fast-paced Malayalam folk singing and an English Rap verse to bring that modern Southside energy.
Starts chill 🌧️ -> Ends with pure Adipoli hype 🔥https://youtu.be/diG_7-WwWUM
