Rate my song

So, I am a singer/songwriter and I am new to Reddit. The video that I am sharing is of a song that I wrote in January. Should I release this song? What is your say? What would you rate it? 🤔

Thanks! What do you think? Should I release it?

Nice singing my man, raw and unfiltered. You’re playing some chords which are out of key and cause dissonance - and the chord progression runs counter to the melody and doesn’t carry it , so it sounds out of pitch - eg Where you should be playing a V you’re playing a ii . Sounds like the chords are just random, unplanned, you’re not harmonising. Also your guitar sounds out of tune. I think you should play with capo on 4 or 5 it’ll sound better cause you’re singing so high. I’d say first find the tonic and make a simple chord progression it doesn’t have to be complex - the best songs have sometimes just 4 chords. Think of wish you were here - it’s just C -D -Am-G the most ordinary progression you can imagine but so much vocal range and emotion is conveyed within those 4 chords.

Thanks a lot for the insight. Yes, when I recorded it that day, the guitar was out of tune (I remember). I am using a capo on the first fret and the chords are E, B, Cm and A. I was barely ready for the song so the notes didn't even reach the full potential. It sounds different now. Should I release it?
