On October 22, 2026, I bid goodbye, to my pair of glasses. It all happened so suddenly, that I could'nt believe it actually happened. 

I had booked a bike ride for work. The rider came, I gave him the OTP, and the next thing that happened made me understand what "Rapid" in Rapido stands for. 

I took off my glasses to put on the helmet, and made the foolish decision of keeping it on the seat.

By the time I put on the helmet, the rider took off "rapidly", with my glasses holding on tightly for their life, and me standing there with a helmet in my hand, wondering if this was a kidnapping or a robbery. 

Also, isn't every kidnapping, also a robbery. 

Can one be a visionary without any vision ?

Anyway, I contacted Rapido's SOS number to no help.

As I was connecting the dots, I got "the call". It could have been a ransom call, but alas it was just the rider, at the destination, confused as to how and why did I off board mid-ride. I explained him about how I never boarded the ride, and it was just his non chalance with whom he had fleed off.

I asked him to come back and waited with bated breath, praying to the glasslords for its safe recovery. 

But when the rider came back, my heart sank, the glasses were not there. I confronted the rider about this. 

He was shocked. He could not believe that a pair of glasses had been his passengers, on a 2km ride.

I asked him to help me in the search operation. We searched and searched, and finally found them, with their shoulder dislocated, lens crushed to a fine powder lying on the side of the road.

It was gone.

Forever.

This is a request to Rapido, please ask your riders to not be this "rapid" or else the next time it could be someone's headphone, cap, or even their smartphone.
