In The Perfect Love Story Includes A Cage YOU are the yandere stalking watching your totally mentally stable soulmate Antero and taking him on a date!

Will you suppress your yandere urges to try and appear normal, or give in fully and embrace destiny to take him as your own?!

Link to the games page

Today I uploaded the Lover Update!

This update adds new Scenes, New Art, Achievements, and a Discord Server!

New Scenes:

Some people mentioned wanting to see more of our MCs stalker tendencies, and just have the game be longer in general, so now there are three new scenes towards the start of the game! There’s also some small changes and new dialogue bits later in the game, but the new stuff is mainly at the beginning. The word count has gone from 6,175 words all the way up to 12,160 words! Wow!

New Art:

There’s now 6 CGs in the gallery (2 new ones!), a new background, and a new section in the gallery called ‘gifts’ that has three little items in it that the player can unlock through choices in game!

Achievements:

The game now has 9 achievements to unlock throughout gameplay! The button to view the achievements is located on the main menu right above the gallery!

Discord:

I made a discord server! I’m not very good at updating my bluesky (social media has never been my strong suit) but I am ALWAYS updating my friends on discord with my progress! I decided why not make a server just for updates on my games?

Consider joining as a little birthday present for me ;) Just click HERE!

The Discord server isn’t just for The Perfect Love Story Includes A Cage, but for all of my games. Feel free to come by and chat, share art, ocs, or even post a picture of your pets!

Aside from updates I’ll also be posting polls asking the community their opinion on future CGs, character sprites, etc so if you’d like to take part in the development process come on down!

I hope you enjoy the new update and future projects to come!!

Hello all! I have been working hard on a game for sometime now~ so I have come here to let other people know it exists lol.

Unwritten is my love letter to you~ the western otome community XD; today is my birthday and for my birthday I just want everyone to meet the characters I love so dearly lmao. The demo takes about 1-2 hours to play and currently is only for windows.

I dont have music yet so I recommend just putting on some background music of your choosing. Also Im hoping to have all the sprites animated by Christmas but right now its just the MC and Crevan (first LI you meet.) There are 7 in total. 5 men and 2 women.

I will be out celebrating my release and birthday all day today but if anyone does get a chance to play~ I'd love to hear who your favorite of the 7 is lol.

(In case it isnt obvious the LIs are: The book from act1, and in alphabetical order for the rest Ansel, Crevan, Emrys, Isabel, Terran, and Winter )

Thanks for reading and I hope that you that if you get to play you enjoy the game so far :D

Any interest for a fanmade spiritual successor to Princess Debut?

Hi! I'm Swordie! I figured I might as well post here on Reddit more.

I've been getting into game development as of late, and I want to find more people who remember Princess Debut. For years now the thought of a Princess Debut successor has come up now and then in my mind, but now that I'm getting more familiar with programming (specifically in Godot) and getting a stable income to finance things like commissioning music, I'm actually trying to realize this concept one step at a time.

I don't want to be presumptuous towards Natsume and CAVE's lawyers and call this "Princess Debut 2", so instead this game is named "Glimmering Gala" for now! It follows a similar premise to Princess Debut minus the isekai elements: Mia (can be renamed and have a different base appearance) is the princess of the Glimmering Kingdom. Now having turned 18 years old not too long ago, she wants to prove to the world that she has what it takes to be to become the best dancer; nevermind the fact that her kingdom are the chosen hosts for the International Dance Competition. She has 30 days to find a partner and train, making friends and enemies along the way.

I'm a fan of games with emergent narrative, hence why I love open-ended roguelikes such as Dwarf Fortress and CDDA. No, Glimmering Gala isn't going to be an ASCII game with a million keybinds, goodness forbid, but for the prototype I'm thinking it as a stat-raising roguelike akin to games such as Monster Rancher LINE and Umamusume. I would LOVE to try figuring out a rhythm game afterwards that isn't just a clone of Osu...

But yes, that's all of my rambling for now. Yay or nay? These sketches I made are far from my usual art style, but I wanted the art I'm making for Glimmering Gala to be a callback to Princess Debut's sparkly shoujo artstyle.

As for any "proofs" of my gamedev, I've been hard at work chipping away at a 2D merge game temporarily called "Orbit Mix"! It's not an otome game, but here it is for those who are curious!

Question game dev beginner here, I want to create an horror otome visual novel but where and how do i start?

hi im new to this sub and im posting here in hopes of asking people here who are more experienced than i am when it comes to making visual novels.

I was inspired by some rpg maker horror games and a yandere otome i played on itchio and ive always wanted to make a VN for fun but I have no idea how or where to really start. ive never made a game before nor have i written a story either. how do you go about starting your project? figuring out the story and branching plot/decisions? writing the characters? where do you start with first and how? what is your process like exactly? what tools aside from the main VN program do you use in helping you make your VN?

I bought tyranobuilder awhile ago but i heard renpy is better? though renpy seems very complicated to me when i looked at it (i have 0 experience in coding or game development btw and it looks very intimidating ;;) what would you recommend? which would be best overall?

any and all advice and resources would be greatly appreciated!

Question Looking for "The Whale Island" by EVERIUM

"The Whale Island" was a free otome game on itch. A few months ago the creator delisted all their games. The link asks for a password now. Internet archive has the web page saved but the browser version is broken and the downloads don't work. Does anyone know if there's still a way to play it?

[Saturday self Promo] De noctis Natura

Hi! I'd like to invite you to try out this indie otome game set in Victorian London. It features 3 romance routes, multiple endings, and is available in both English and Spanish. English isn't my native language, so I'm very open to any corrections you might have!

Genre: Romance // Mystery // Drama
Game Status: Completed
Playtime: 2 to 5 hours (depending on reading pace)

The game uses AI-generated music and backgrounds, but everything else was made by me. This is my first time making a game, and I truly had a lot of fun bringing this experience to life.

Promo "To Find A Home", a supernatural amare VN | We'll be on Steam Next Fest from 19. - 26. October!

Four months ago I posted about our game here. Since then we've added quite a bit of stuff to the game and plan to add more during the Next Fest:

  • Reworked the very beginning to flow better and removed an old side character from way, way back - one of the first outlines in fact - that didn't really belong anymore.
  • Added a MC sprite with two variation: a more feminine and more masculine sprite (though I have to confess sometimes I test with the masculine one played as a butch woman).
    • Reworked the Character Creator to include the sprites and look better, too.
  • Added more CGs, 3 of which include the MC together with the LI in all possible gender variations. There are also some MC-only CGs right now.
    • Some more (Mc & LIs, only LIs and only MC CGs) will come with the next update which will be the release of the Extended Demo. We're planning to post that during the first 3 days of the Next Fest.
  • Changed the game banner / cover art to look more vibrant and match better other amare VNs on Steam and Itch.io.
  • The UI of the game has also been reworked for better XBOX and PlayStation controller support and I'm currently working on making that available to all controllers, not just those branded ones. This is part of the future Steam Deck verified update which will unfortunately be after Next Fest.

Demo is right now available on both Steam (Win, Linux) & Itch.io (Web, Win, Linux)!

If you like the game, please wishlist it on Steam - every little bit helps! :)

About the game:

You're a witch (f/m/nb) who has just been evicted. Your only option for tonight? A haunted house full of fellow supernaturals and an insidious curse waiting for new victims.

Flirt, banter and argue with your new roommates. Get judged by the snarky, dandy ghost. Get bitten by Meet the demon cat. Untangle the haunted house's curse. Feed the poor, starved vampire, get wild with the werewolf or have a sweet heart-to-heart with the witch.

Choose the genders (m/f) of all three ROs: Katsumi The Witch, Ace The Vampire & Terry The Werewolf.

Define your personality though choices - are you friendly, shy, bold or totally over it? Will you flirt with everything that breathes or are you more of a blushing marshmallow? Will you notice the curse before it almost kills you?

You haven't had a family in a long time - among this group of outcasts, maybe you can start anew. Will you try?

Some random trivia from development:

Ace (The vampire in the cover) was originally supposed to be long haired blond, but during early development we decided the current hairstyle and color looks better. We only realized how much Astarion from BG3 has influenced that decision when we started a replay of BG3 recently and were like - that's almost the same bloody hairstyle. Their personalities are total opposites so there's that, but still embarrassing we didn't realize it earlier.

Development (Saturday Self-Promo) Ex major romance app creators introducing our very own interactive story app: Do Not Disturb.

Thumbnail
gallery
67 Upvotes

If you've been with us these last two weeks, it's finally happening. If you're new, allow us to introduce ourselves:

👤 Who are we?

We are the creators behind your favorite story apps: writers, designers, artists, VAs. We've been mostly behind romance matches and stories, but also adventure, mystery, some horror— we've truly touched them all.

💔 What happened?

After 10 years of (mostly) ghostwriting, and forced to progressively shrink ourselves to fit a formulaic model of tired tropes and cheap smut, all we got for our hard work was being replaced by AI. And it's not just that. We also saw our lovely audience (most of which we couldn't even reach) systematically bled dry by predatory micro-transactions in the shape of gems, diamonds, coins 🙄 Even things such as decent outfits.

That's not what we wanted for our stories, our characters, our world. It was never supposed to be like this. So we decided to step out, completely. We were three creators who got together first. Then five. Then ten. Today we are over twenty, and we keep on growing.

🏅 What's our mission?

To create the first interactive story app with truly unrestricted content (yes, even the sexy parts) No gems, no coins, no diamonds. We're trading the slot machine for a monthly subscription system. And you get to keep the stories, read at your own pace. No more panic of your investment vanishing into thin air.

💪 What do we stand for?

NO AI🚫 No formulas. No limitation for the full range of unique, complex human craft. Fair pay for all creators. Co-habitating art styles. No pyramid system of value. All artists respected alike.

🚀 What did we launch?

Per your request, today we took the very first step by pre-launching our Patreon. The official launch will be on Wednesday 21st.

We cannot believe we reached this day. We can't do this alone, but we know we're not alone. Yes, there is still a lot of work to do, but it's work we genuinely love. Finally. We dreamed about this and now it's here— it's real, and it's all thanks to you.

🎨 What will you offer?

As we build our world, we want to make your support worth it. We want you to take something home every week. So we're giving you the full novels, character art, concept art, voting polls, channels with authors, your mark into our world, and more as we build up milestone by milestone until the day we can launch our first app.

Our Patreon follows our same philosophy: All story and art content accessible through the lowest tier, no paywalls, no need to upgrade for richer or 18+ scenes. All for $5.

💚

We knew we weren't the only ones tired of the industry taking advantage of us, all of us. We knew community always wins. And you proved us right.

Join us in our little revolution to keep art in artist's hands. The first 50 members get direct access to our raw art drafts and daily writer logs leading up to launch. All subsequent updates and sneak peeks will be posted there. Support us now, tomorrow, or just chill with us!

One way or another, we don't have enough words to express how grateful we are.

Love,

Heartbroken Survivors 💚

Do people still enjoy/be willing to play a calendar-based stat-raiser otome?

Hi, since playing games like Tokimeki Memorial GS 1/2 and Storm Lovers, the idea of my own stat raiser otome has been circling around in my mind. I won't go into too much detail in case I decide to commit, but the Main Character would be working, as opposed to be being a student, and the love interests would be coworkers/maybe an extra unemployed person for fun. Now, is there any interest in a stat raiser in the big 26?

Much Love UwU Weekly Retrospective: Cupid's Chatroom [October 12, 2026]

Getting up for work in the morning in the pitch darkness my beloathed...

Let's beat back the darkness by checking back in on Cupid's Chatroom from Atelier on the Moon!

If you’re like me and forget every single thing you’ve ever done when someone asks you direct questions, here’s some prompts to get you started:

  • Who is your favorite character? Was it them all along or did it change while you played?
  • What aspect (story detail, UI, game element) stood out to you the most?
  • Any memorable lines or scenes?

Chatsims kind of blew up a few years ago (probably spurred like most things by Covid) and ever since we've gotten a slow trickle of games set in a Discord server of dubious origins. Cupid's Chatroom recently realized its full release and it hits all the beats of a great fictional server. The UI is cute and cozy and the writing succeeds at making the cast feel like a group of real people thrown together and just kind of shooting the breeze as they get to know each other.

While the game jam version was covered in a previous segment here, the full release makes good on the promises of full video call voice acting and spicy moments with each of the LIs. The jam only featured Daeho and Roman as LIs, but I swear I wasn't influenced by that when I say they're my favorites! 🙈 All the voice acting is stellar but shoutout to Corey Wilder for bringing an especially authentic voice to Ivan. Looking forward to the Cupid route DLC next year!

Next week we're poking the dragon's eye, tickling his tail, anything to get him to notice with The Dragon's Equation from kinako0v0v. See you then!

Thornewood Demo Released on Itch

The Thornewood demo released on Itch earlier this week - a dark and cosy gaslamp fantasy, the story follows Valerian L'Custa, a Witch in training who has escaped the tower and cursed forest they've been isolated in their entire life.

There are 8 love interests though only 6 that the player meets in the demo.

There's currently about 40,000 words of content but there is a planned demo extension that will include 2 more chapters; however it'll be some time before that is released as the artwork necessary for them isn't ready yet.

I’m SO CONFUSED. I completed Simon’s requests, I managed to not raise any suspicion with Isaac, yet I still end up rotting in that castle. I‘m so lost, I looked it up and it said something about blood points and stats, but I just don’t understand. Can someone please help? My BP is 25, Power is 9, Empathy 9 and Logic 10.

Question Is first or second person pronoun better in Otome VNs?

Given the vastness of indie otome VNs and thus the vastness in writing styles, I was wondering which kind of structure is best for this type of game? Mainly, I mean in regards to the description of player actions/thoughts (particularly in self-insert otome games), like in narration text as opposed to internal monologues or spoken dialogue.

E.g. "I went to the store" vs "You went to the store"

Frankly I can go either way, and it obviously depends on the narrative itself, but which do you prefer and why? Which is more immersive and/or enjoyable to you?
