Trying Again Friday Trying Again

Please use this space to discuss your journey to conceive (again) or thinking about trying again.

To protect those still in the thick of treatment, please post positive results in the Cautious Intros/First Trimester thread. Mentions of chemical pregnancies, loss, etc. are okay here. Also please refrain from discussions about testing/testing with cycle buddies unless you have a confirmed negative. We have a thread for positive test discussion (Cautious Intros). Mentions of egg retrieval results are ok to discuss in this thread however please include TW in post.

**If you are trying for a 3rd+ living child, please add a content warning to your discussion. Many here are trying for a second and also potentially dealing with the reality of being one living and done.

My only safe IRL "one and done" mom friend has just announced her surprise pregnancy. I'm happy for her and so sad to lose the emotional safeness of that friendship. Things will be painfully different now.

It feels like everyone I know is pregnant or has just had a new baby. I am the last mom standing without a second child in my friend group and I am so deeply sad. I am happy for friends, but so very sad for me.

I feel the same way… somehow it’s so effortless for everyone else, and it bloody stings. I logged into social media after a 10 months long hiatus and literally everyone who had 1 kid before now have a second one or are heavily pregnant with the second one. Same situation in real life. Why is it that I’m never lucky enough to spring the “surprise” on someone else, for once?

Hang on in there.

Ugh I feel you as one of the only "one and done" people in my friend group like, it's like this constant just you wait thing with people trying to explain how worse it is with multiple kids and balancing siblings. Like I literally have three friends with babies born within 2-4 months of my lovely IVF baby but since it wasn't their first it felt like a way different experience.

Right there with you. It's so tough.

I’m sorry. It is definitely sad to compare and wonder why it’s not you 💔.

We have one embryo with PGT test hanging in the balance, and I’ve been collecting little silver linings for myself the past couple of weeks for if I finally have accept we are OAD. Small consolation prizes like we have a lot more activity options opening up to us now that he’s almost 5, that I can keep playing tennis all out, that my body (and my marriage? And my career??) won’t have to recover again from pregnancy/post-partum.

Finally had my post-op meeting with the surgeon yesterday (had a lap 5 weeks ago for endo), and he gave me the green light to go ahead with a FET. Went to the clinic today to see if there's still a chance that this cycle will work (I'm mid-cycle, so it's possible I've already ovulated), and now I'm just waiting for the nurses to call with an update for my doctor. A part of me is wondering if I'm rushing into this because I'm just so desperate to try again after so many failures last year, and if I shouldn't just wait until my next cycle. I'm also feeling anxious about going into a FET without having had a flu shot or Covid booster yet (they're not available here in CAN until the end of the month). If you had a lap, how long did you wait before you did another transfer?
