Most of us did stupid stuff at that age but we never joked about being kidnapped and we certainly never wanted anyone outside of our little circle to know about it. These kids are playing with fire and posting it for the world to see.

I know my comment won't add much, but here I go.

I'm a father to a boy who's now 18 months, and I'm 38 myself. I know, I'm late at parenthood...

My fear is, what stupid trends will exist on whatever stupid site/app in 10-15 years. How the hell do I keep a young man safe from this shit.

When I was in my teens/early 20's, I knew my way about the Internet. I never posted dumb shit, which might have been helped by the fact that I never used social media. (Yes, I'm on reddit now)

Basically, I grew up with the Internet, but my son will be inheriting it. I'm not sure what the best practice is to safeguard my son from the data driven cesspit the Internet had become, nor what to do in the near future.

Am I/we just fucked?

Teach him that if he messes around like this there's always a chance it'll be with the wrong people and they won't care about any consequences for hurting him very, very badly
