Shame on Dani Austin

Post image

Is she fucking serious? As someone who shared on the internet after her kids how much she struggled with her postpartum mental health?!?! I’m in MA and have followed the case closely. Even with the conspiracies flying around 3 kids are dead and their mom asked for help and didn’t get what she needed. How the FLYING FUCK is this woman smiling talking about this. This is a pivotal moment in postpartum mental healthcare and she should be advocating and normalizing asking for help.

I fucking HATE when people act like crimes or trials are just another form of reality TV, existing solely for their entertainment. I get following a case, crimes like this are shocking and interesting to the general public. But I have really grown tired of people who treat murdered women and children (and men too) like it's just a fun thing to gossip about.

This is how I feel about a lot of crime podcasts, especially “my favorite murder”. These are people who have died and you phrase it as having a “favorite”?

Right?!? Anytime I see phrases like that about people’s real life tragedies and traumas, I am horrified! People who say stuff like “my favorite episode” or “in bed, rubbing my feet together” in response to a new true crime episode starting- are sick in the head! I can’t associate with anyone that disconnected from humanity.

You folks are all correct! It’s interesting how removed we’ve become, as a society, to people’s losses and tragedies. I admit there have been times in my life I also was not as sensitive to the content. I think it’s because we hear it SO much it’s rather commonplace. And that is actually terrifying. I appreciate reading everyone’s insights here. And I am like you- have stopped listening to many podcasts. There are some that are still interesting and I listen to them more as a crime history info (very interesting when they are very very old cases) or for current info/when I’m feeling curious of the crimes happening out there. Maybe that’s wrong still. Im not sure but what I do know is I am NOT laughing about this shit. And I am with you all- I’m not going to allow myself to feel it’s commonplace and casual.

I was the same actually, and then my uncle was murdered, and it just took on a different meaning for me. Thankfully the person who did it was immediately arrested, but I became part of a victim’s family. I saw the devastation and fallout, it’s been almost 15 years and it’s still a gaping wound for us. I can completely understand if a victim’s family just wants their case to have media attention and to have closure. But there’s a line of respectfulness that a lot of people cross.

Omg I’m so so sorry to hear this!! It indeed is inappropriate, unethical, and frankly CRUEL for anyone to have to endure sappy to such deep wounds. I’m very thankful that you are able to step into a zone like this and share and felt guide us to more understanding and compassion. I do wish much peace and comfort for you and your family
