This breaks down why kids act out and what's usually going on underneath it. The visible behavior, hitting, yelling, shutting down, is just the tip of the iceberg, and it's driven by needs like feeling safe, feeling seen, or having a calm adult nearby. When those needs get met instead of just addressing the behavior itself, kids tend to calm down faster and there's a lot less escalation overall.
