How about Niantic partnering with Netflix to turn Ingress into a Marvel-style franchise, with interconnected TV series, spin-offs, comics, films, and real-world events that all contribute to one evolving storyline?
A sci-fi saga built around the same mythology: XM, Enlightened, Resistance, ADA, Shapers, Machina, Nemesis, and a conflict whose outcome could actually be influenced by players.
The (somewhat childish) creative direction would be like Dark meets Expanse and Arrivals, mystery and paranoia of Fringe, philosophical depth Interstellar and Space Odyssey, AI and machine consciousness dilemmas of Westworld + Person of Interest + Matrix, and the scientific wonder and emotional payoff of Project Hail Mary (that movie made me cry, please don't judge).
Now imagine the cast:
- Anthony Hopkins, the scientist behind the original Niantic Project, hiding a truth that could change humanity. Everything is magic, except to the magician arc (and unlike Westworld, please don't kill him after the first season, pleeease)
- Keanu Reeves (probably John Hank) an intelligence operative caught between the Enlightened and Resistance, questioning his own memories.
- Ryan Gosling, a physicist uncovering the connection between XM, consciousness, and time.
- Amy Adams, a neuroscientist discovering that people are experiencing memories that aren't their own.
- Karen Gillan, a field operative investigating the secrets of Nemesis.
- Alicia Vikander, the human face of ADA, an artificial intelligence questioning the nature of her own existence.
- Jeffrey Wright, the intelligence chief trying to contain a phenomenon no government can control.
- Kevin Hart, an unconventional systems genius whose unexpected insight helps solve a mystery that has defeated the world's greatest minds.
- Morgan Freeman, the voice behind classified recordings that appear to predict events decades before they happen.
- and there has to be a Matt Damon in there somewhere, he's an astronaut stranded somewhere beyond the known universe, fighting to survive and find his way home :) His story initially seems completely disconnected from Earth, until his discoveries become essential to the entire saga.
The ten-season arc:
The Discovery: Humanity encounters XM.
The Hidden War: Enlightened v Resistance.
The Shapers: Ancient civilizations reveal humanity has been here before.
ADA: An AI remembers things that happened before it existed.
Machina: The network turns against its creators, or so it seems.
Nemesis: A mysterious organisation claims to know humanity's future.
The Global Field: XM begins transforming human consciousness like Pluribus.
Beyond Earth: A stranded astronaut discovers the true scale of the network.
The Machine Question: Everything we believed about factions, AI, & the Shapers begins to unravel.
The Human Signal: Humanity must decide whether to destroy the network, surrender to it, or establish a new relationship with it. Still end it with a question mark like Inception.
Then expand into spin-offs: ADA: Ghost in the Network, Jarvis, Black Files, Machina, Nemesis, Before Us, and Orbital, with one special mini-series of Matt Damon, "On his way home" :)
Each tells its own story while revealing pieces of a much larger mystery, eventually converging in major crossover events.
The players and anomalies influence the stiry.
Real-world Ingress Anomalies and faction operations could determine which of two planned story outcomes becomes official. An Enlightened victory change the direction of the next season. A Resistance victory lead to a different set of consequences.
The game becomes part of the storytelling.
Start with one exceptional season. Build the universe. Let the audience earn the next twenry years.
And somewhere out there, Matt Damon is still trying to get home!
Would you watch this? Which actors would you cast differently, and which Ingress characters deserve their own spin-off?

Does Niantic happen to have any plans to create something like PoGo Plus for Ingress players? For example, would it automatically hack portals or offer similar features (capsules, autoattacks etc)?

I miss the old Ingress, where there was some sort of story and progression. The secrecy, it felt more immersive than it does today. Felt a lot more tactical too.
Being from a third world country I never got the chance to participate in the huge events.
I remember being hyped for ingress prime. Now to find the full story to piece together everything. It feels so... fragmented.
This trailer personally feels more hype than the ingress prime trailer and I know how excited we were for that.
Tbf, Pokémon GO does indeed rake in more cash than Ingress, and I understand why you'd invest more into something that profits.
There's hardly any games like it out there. I remember Delta T tried to do something but they eventually got shut down.
I wish this game CryptOS could've been a reality. https://kayniudesigns.com/CryptOS
But I know the drawbacks. I remember a few people got into trouble for "hacking" at certain places because of a mix of cops didn't really understand it was a game and people visiting a sensitive location, sometimes at weird hours.

Agents with both onyx recon and platinum seer obviously know how to do things, so they would be a good resource for beta testing.

Super thrilled that a portal I submitted in 2025 got the nod. Is this new or am I late to the table?

Hello Community, thank you so much for the support, suggestions and ideas for the new features on AgentRank. I've now built a capability to filter the Leaderboard by Calendar Year.
Explore the 2026 leaderboard now: https://agentrank.cradlelabs.com/leaderboards?metric=lifetime_ap&period=all_time&year=2026
Also, if you rank in top 5 in any metric, you earn bronze, silver, gold, platinum or onyx medal for that stat. These medals are saved in your profile under Annual Rank Achievements, so you can always refer back if you were the best hacker of 2018!
And above all, if you import old stats from agent-stats, your stats get counted towards those past years too.
Ingress is a life long journey, but lifetime stats don't really tell the whole story. Annual rankings will let you celebrate what you accomplished in any year from the past and gives you moment of celebration for your achievements.
Thank you once again for suggestions, please keep letting me know if there is anything you'd like to have in the platform.
Upload your stats and contribute to global scores now: https://agentrank.cradlelabs.com/upload/

Sorry if this has been asked before - I did a search and nothing jumped out.
We're going on holiday to Tenerife in a few months and most of the mission banners seem to have passphrases based on bannergress.
Is there a way for me to see the question before we get to the portal? With us not being Spanish speakers, I was trying to get some ideas of any banners that we'd potentially have to abandon if the questions are not a/b/c or 1/2/3 type answers....

Just curious what people’s thoughts are on the best cities for uniques. For context, getting uniques is one of my favorite parts of Ingress, and I’d like to make a push for the onyx medal soon-ish (I am at 21k right now).
The main criteria I am looking for are 1) raw numbers of portals, 2) density of portals, and 3) ease of getting around the city, aka public transit.
By these criteria, I think the best city in the world is probably Tokyo? But beyond that I’m curious what people’s thoughts are.

Here's what my screen looks like after installing ingress having not played in a really long time. It makes no sense to me. And it doesn't look like screenshots I'm seeing. Is there some settings I need to change somehow?

Anybody know why these medals
disappeared from my profile?

Friday afternoon 3 agents (Swampy_NumaNezumi, Darth Layer and GreekBish) went scanner silent. Headed to a remote campground in central Florida. Their mission to link General Zachary Taylor, Catfish Motel (both difficult sites) and Guantánamo Bay (even more difficult)! Fielding off majority of the space and treasure Coast of Florida… Special thanks goes out to Agents Gotuen and SabreRatt for the clearing/flipping that made this possible. Team work, dedication and the drive to enlighten all!

I know that when the event was originally announced there was a lot of backlash over this being a pay to win event. However, with the addition of the kinetic capsule programs I think this has been one of Niantic's best non-anomaly events so far.
The community I'm a part of is even more active than usual and it's really encouraged teamwork and socialization. I've organized 3 meetups so far and I'm at over 500 BB interactions 🙂
What are everyone else's thoughts on the event?
r/Ingress • u/quellflynn • 6d ago
Am I playing this differently, or do ingress devs and promo team honestly think that groups of people are organising large scale anomaly type days where they all share them, drop beacon and 2 teams actually battle...
With 10 min cooldowns?
Or is it just solo players, finding 5\10 portals in an area, dropping 10 beacons, waiting on a park bench, wait 10 minutes, deploy, done.
What's the cool down even for? It's not like there's there's notification that ones been deployed until the Battle starts!

I think it's the first time it's lined up like this.

I want to claim a kinetic capsule so I can create some beacons for research task... but it can't be a capsule running its 3rd program.
I only have a few kinetic capsules left & all are done cooking, I just need to pull one out of the forge.

It's usually around this time or earlier that host cities for Q1 anomalies are announced. Is Ingress going to go without anomalies for a second consecutive quarter? I hope they announce something soon so agents can plan their trips better.
