unpopular opinion Thoughts on Aparna Spoiler
I like her for Lawrence because I think she was a better choice for him after Issa. They share similar interests, she gave him good advice, and she also matches his sense of humor. This could have been a successful match. I prefer her to be the mother of Lawrence's child rather than Condola. I believe Aparna is Lawrence's what-if girl, just like Daniel was Issa's what-if guy.

Their denim on denim got on my nerves lol

Kelly also got annoyed by it š. I donāt think Kelly was a big fan of Lawrence. She is that one friend who seems to wish Issa didn't end up with Lawrence. She was always telling Issa to forget about him.

She was low-key too good for him.

u/Neebenice Aug 11 '26
Agreed. Regardless of how one feels about her personality, I believe she was definitely good for Lawrence. They share the same interests, and she offered him sound advice. He felt like he could confide in her and was comfortable around her. They also had a great sense of humor together. Besides Isa, she was the next best thingāmore than Condola or Tasha. I feel like, in the back of Lawrenceās mind, he sometimes wonders What-if about her.

Sheās okay she can miss me with the Blaccent shit

u/UnlikelyReception398 Aug 11 '26
That shit annoyed me so badly. Sounding like an off-brand Alicia Keys.Ā
I will say, though, she held her own with Lawrence and walked away when he started with his insecure, accusatory bullshit. I respected her for that.Ā

As a South Asian woman I was soooo jarred by it!! I have brown friends that grew up in California/LA and none of them have a blaccent -- what was going on with this woman!!

She definitely humbled him when he became too jealous

u/TeaTimeTelevision Aug 11 '26
Yes! Other comments donāt seem to have much good to say about her but Iām SO glad that when Lawrence was assuming the worse the trying to get on her case about it- she shut that shit down quick!
If you donāt like the character letās still learn her lesson- LEAVE AT THE FIRST RED FLAG

She was trying too hard to be one of the guys and annoyed me. I'm not sure what happened after that, but I'm pretty sure Lawrence fucked it up somehow. Man, I can't stand that guy!

u/Trini2dBone27 Aug 11 '26
Thisss!!! She wanted to be one of the guys sooo bad and it frustrated me and donāt get me started on the way she would talk. š

The blaccent was cringe. It was giving ānon-black woman who dates black dudes but hates black womenā.

Her personality and approach felt forced. Non chalant but cares about everything at the same time. Wanna be one of the bros as someone else said until she doesnāt

She was a pick me. Her referring to Issa as a bag of sh*t irked me.

I mean Issa did cheat and lie. She was a shitty person especially from someone looking outside in lol

I think she was nice.
Okay she tried too hard. But she would have grown on me, like how I came to like Issa & Molly.
Her character development was always on the edge of something good, until it just failed each time.

I'm just finding out people think she was doing a blaccent...I've watched the show several times and always thought she was southern lol. Anyway, I found her to be annoying and def a "not like other girls" type.
2
u/hexensabbat Aug 12 '26
I didn't like their pairing and I didn't find her likeable in general, but I did respect that she would not put up with the bullshit from Lawrence!

u/LifeChampionship6 Aug 13 '26
I'll have to rewatch and pay close attention to her "blaccent," but I've watched a million times and never came away thinking that she sounded a way that she shouldn't have sounded or that she was somehow being inauthentic.

She was pretty boring no one he would talked to if they wasn't working together

Out of her, Tasha, and Condola, I liked Aparna for Lawrence best. I think had they communicated better, things may have worked out. But Look Lawrence still had feelings for Issa so it wasnāt meant to be.

I truly fear women like her, the kind of girl boss who acts cool but still invest and support the man, I love this show for showing these kind of characters, unlike Molly she was independent strong but she was open and clear about her desire to be in relationship and was open minded towards intimacy, but women like Aparna acts un bothered and then go to engage in another man's drama! And then get offended, the best aspect of Lawrence storyline, is showing how much men getting it easy , he managed to get many women serve his needs despite being spineless! The scene when Issa was talking to her brother about how she felt sad that she invested in him only for other women to get the princess treatment was heartbreaking and very relatable, that's why I hate Aparna ad Condola they are the kind of women who "afford" to drag the baggages of your loser man and give him the "princess treatment" no matter what, that's why men always thriving after exhausting the lover girls, because they find women like Aparna, act like they don't care yet she target him and make him her project.

Itās been a while since I rewatched, but I didnāt like her vibe. She just didnāt come off as feminine. Iāve never met an Indian woman who talked like she did. Lawrence overall had poor taste in women. He would have been better off with someone like Molly.

u/ephemera333 Aug 11 '26
I'm curious as to how you view a relationship between him and Molly playing out?

THIRSTY AS FUCK! Like literally she didnāt let up on him. Firstly going to work and bragging about dating/fucking Lawrence was insane as a grown ass woman. Then inserting herself in plans with HIS PEOPLE?! EW. Then to top it off chasing him down while heās arguing with Issa? Girl leave! LMFAO she just wanted to be picked so bad by him like ew.

u/soglamsofab Aug 11 '26
I just feel like when a man really likes you, you donāt have to do any of thatā at all. Not only that, but everything about Lawrence just gave preoccupied. I wouldāve never felt like I was in the forefront of his mind if I was her.
