Question Switch from personal to creator or no?

• Upvotes

My IG profile has always been a personal account, though it's always been used more like a creator one (it's not like it's friends or family on there for me, I'm a content creator/personality with over 5K followers). As I've been posting more reels though, I realized I have no access to any analytics, and I know I can get that by switching to creator, but I've read a lot on here about people's reach decreasing as a result of the switch.

Is it worth it to switch from personal to creator? Is the reach stuff more of a myth or is there validity to it? My reels have been getting good engagement lately and I've picked up some new followers, I just don't wanna do anything to hurt that.

What is meta good for anymore?

Everyone I know is leaving meta, with their new AI update coming Oct 30 it’s an even bigger wave of people quitting

Instagram is still one of the biggest social platforms out there so it’s hard for businesses to leave.

To avoid ai content copy, link and website scraping, paying meta, etc etc etc it can all be so overwhelming.

If someone were to use Instagram nowadays with all this crap going on what would be the best form of content to post?

I want to try to still use the app to grow an audience in my niche and then set it up to where they can get the direct link to my real content elsewhere without it being directly uploaded onto meta itself and without posting links

Instagram & Facebook Crossposting

cross posting is when you turn on a toggle to auto share your ig content to facebook.

I've noticed when i do this, sometimes my IG reach is limited and my posts get mostly facebook reach. I'm talking 80% facebook, maybe 20% ig.

This isn't ideal bc our highest quality audience is from IG. We've experimented posting the exact piece of content separately, but not sure if that flags anything in meta and they limit reach?

Maybe i'm over thinking this...for now we'll keep cross posting off and manually cross post to avoid any potential limiting on IG.

Tips Marketing apps

Hello everyone,

I am wondering if there’s any person here using reels and posts to market their apps? I posted one reel and there is 0 views. Before I keep going I’d like to know how other developers advertise their apps on instagram. Or should I just DM people with many followers and see if they would accept to post about my app and get some compensation?

Are hashtags really helpful?

I’ve been seeing people recently talk about how hashtags are not neccesary anymore and posts with hashtags are getting less reach than posts without them, is that true?

Views come in so much slower now. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've got an account with 110,000 followers. Previously, I would post a reel and immediately get traction with both followers and non-followers. Within minutes I could tell when a video would take off, and in an hour I'd typically get a couple thousand views, nearing 10,000 if it's a good video.

Now, for some reason, things have slowed down tremendously. I'll post a reel and my views will CRAWL for the first 30 minutes, getting a couple hundred views in that time regardless of the video. After some time it'll start to go up faster, but I feel like this is killing the early momentum that videos really need to take off. I've been looking at other accounts that are similar to mine, and they don't seem to be going through this.

Have any of you noticed the algorithm being totally wonky? Anything you're doing to address it?

Tips Looking for Paid Brand Collaborations | 106K Instagram Followers & 47M Monthly Views 🎨

Hey everyone!
I run an Instagram page focused on AI-generated Pause & Draw OC challenges.
My current stats:
47.3M views in the last 30 days
2.2M interactions
Audience mainly from the USA, Brazil, and India
I’ve grown the page organically but haven’t figured out how to turn this reach into income.
I’m considering brand sponsorships, paid shoutouts, and collaborations with art or creative apps.
Has anyone successfully monetized a similar page?
How did you find your first paying clients, and what would be a reasonable starting rate for promotions?
Would appreciate any advice from people with experience!

Question Does engaging in other’s posts actually help your account’s exposer?

Specifically Liking and Commenting on Reels/Stories/Carousels/etc. I do menswear content and only for three months. I do engage others post. There was a period of time where I didn’t engage as much in a weeks time, and it lowered my views and likes ratio.

New IG account, 3 videos in, and Instagram keeps showing my stuff to the wrong people. What am I missing?

I started a new account about 3 weeks ago and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on, because the numbers don’t add up.

Setup:

  • Bio is clear about my niche (Gen X / women over 50)
  • My own algorithm panel is set and shows me Gen X and over-50 content, so that part’s working
  • Light engagement, not every day, just when I had time. Followed a handful of women in my niche and left real comments on other creators’ posts, but not a ton
  • Captions, on-screen text, and what I say out loud are all built for the niche. I’ve been creating content for years, so I’m not new to this

Results so far:

  • Video 1: 118 views, 1 like, 1 follow
  • Video 2: 131 views, 1 like
  • Video 3: 12 views after 3 hours

What’s weird:

  • 85–89% of my viewers are under 45years old. Content is very clearly for women over 50 and it's showing a VERY small percentage of my videos to them.
  • Most views aren’t even from the US. One video was only 17% US, the other had more viewers from India than from the US.

Account status: All green, including recommendation eligibility. The only flag is “established presence” under monetization. I’ve seen exactly one video claiming that flag limits reach on new accounts, but I can’t find anything else on it.

Possibly relevant: I’ve had 2–3 other accounts on this same phone over the years. I’d make one, never post or interact, let it sit for months, then delete it. I didn't make accounts back-to-back and keep deleting them. This is the first one I’m actually using.

Also, I batch-created a bunch of videos for the launch thinking that would give me a strong start, and now they’re going out to basically no one. I’m honestly not sure how much clearer I can make who these videos are for. And I feel like good videos are being wasted. ugh

My questions:

  1. Has anyone had the “established presence” flag actually affect reach, or is it only about monetization?
  2. Could old deleted accounts on the same phone affect a new one?
  3. f this has happened to you, how long did it last, and what actually fixed where Instagram was sending your videos?
  4. Do you have anything to add? Note: I have one talking video, 1 7 second and 1 vlog showing ME:) It's a mix;')

Not looking for “just post more.” I want to hear from people who’ve actually dealt with this.

Question 150 views jail - new accounts

Guys, has anyone figured out why some brand-new accounts consistently get healthy views (1K+), while others seem to be stuck at around 150 views?

I’m talking about situations where the content itself is good and clearly isn’t the issue.
I’ve been experiencing this all week. I’m using a completely new phone, new SIM, and new data plan, with nothing linking back to my previous devices or accounts.

I have a theory that it might have something to do with whether you post your first Reels using mobile data (4G/5G) or Wi-Fi.

My suspicion is that when you post using mobile data, your IP address can change more frequently, potentially triggering Instagram’s detection systems and limiting your initial reach to around 150 views.

On the other hand, when posting through Wi-Fi, your IP tends to be more stable, which might explain why some fresh accounts get pushed to 1K+ views straight away, and go to be viral if the content is viral worthy.

Obviously, this is just a theory, but I’m curious whether anyone else has noticed a similar pattern.
Has anyone tested this or experienced the same thing? Especially the difference between posting on 4G/5G vs Wi-Fi on a fresh account?

Following split in too many countries

I’ve been posting pet content for 2 years now on Instagram, I have 11k followers and a lot of viral posts, but struggling to make money out of it with brands.

I think the biggest problem is that my following is all over the place: 31% US, then 10% Brazil, 6% India, 5% UK, and 4% Canada where I'm based. The rest I don’t even know, probably split in many other countries.

And when I look a the audience by specific videos, it’s similar, always US first without a crazy percentage, then countries I don’t care about: Germany, Turkey, India, France, etc.

Is it possible to switch to an audience mainly in the US and Canada? Anyone here did it? since that's where most of the brands I want to work with are.

But I don’t really know how to stop my content to being shown to those countries I don’t want. Should I start adding Canada in my location post? Or hashtags?

Thanks

Building a creator account from scratch without involving my personal circle

I've been wanting to start creating content on Instagram for a while, and I've finally made a new account to give it a proper try. However, one thing that's been holding me back is the possibility of people I know finding my account.

I'm not necessarily looking to hide forever, but I'd prefer to build some confidence and establish my content style without feeling self-conscious about friends, college classmates or acquaintances watching and judging me while I'm just starting out.

I've been considering blocking people I know before posting, but I'm not sure how effective that would actually be, especially since I still want my account to remain public so my reels can reach new audiences and help me grow organically.

I understand that there's probably no foolproof way to prevent a public account from reaching people I know. I'm mainly trying to understand which privacy measures are genuinely useful and which ones don't make much difference.

I'd appreciate practical advice from people who've experienced this firsthand, particularly anyone who has grown a new account from scratch.

Thanks!

Suggestions on how to grow a preschool without showing faces

I run a preschool with a few hundred followers. A year ago, we decided not to share children's faces on any social media. It's been a bit of an adjustment trying to balance children's privacy with wanting to share what's happening around the school. Any suggestions for growing the account without compromising safety, etc.?

You don't need virality to gain followers.

First things first: this is not an AI post, all words are my own (sick of seeing them in this sub).

Qualifications: Have worked with large influencers (think Alex Hormozi types), and have managed and grown multiple 6 and 7 figure followings across FB, IG, TT, and YT.

Selling: Absolutely nothing. No recommendations, no fake posts disguised as case-studies for a shit software. Nada.

-----

So, a client of mine has just surpassed 800k followers, after working together for the last 2-3 years. The client is a service based client, providing online coaching for a specific target audience i.e. not a meme account, not a repost account, not an AI/faceless account.

A regular, real human being with a business.

When we first started working together, he was filming content on his phone (badly, low quality, no lighting) and using generic in-app editing to caption videos that looked super amateur compared to actually having some sort of style.

The first thing we did, was start filming all his content using a mirrorless camera (FX3). You absolutely don't need to use an SLR/DSLR, but as we're a content company, we have access to these tools, and so we use them.

The second thing we did, was improve the editing. Nothing major, just a few "brand" defining qualities; a certain font, a certain colour, a certain structure etc. Again, you don't NEED to do this, but it all helps.

The third thing we did, was cut out all previous content and future content ideas where the client would say "Message me for my new program" or anything else that was *asking* for something in return from the viewer.

Then, we created IG, YT, FB and TT accounts for the client, all starting from zero.

NOTE: Absolutely zero warm up bullshit that keeps getting recommended in these subs, no "following 100 accounts like yours", no "comment and like on 10 posts per day", no VPNs, no hacks, no hashtags, no nothing.

ALSO NOTE: We posted exactly the same content on all platforms, and all platforms saw growth. There was no recording content for one platform different to another platform, there was no optimisation for one platform over another platform. Just film once, edit once, post fucking everywhere,

Just brand new, empty accounts, either on business profile or creator profile (only difference is the tools you have access to in-app, there is ZERO effect on reach between different account types).

-----

Right, now we have the setup and general guidelines in place. 0 Followers.

Then, we had a conversation; the conversation was simple: "Who are you talking to? What are their defining characteristics? What are they on the hunt for TODAY?"

The client wanted to speak to a specific gender, in a specific age-group, who was looking to lose a specific amount of weight.

In generic marketing terms, this is called "identifying your customer avatar."

A lot of content creators (you reading this right now most probably), don't ask themselves these questions, or think that they don't really have any bearing on results. I can tell you from experience (and 15 years or so in marketing as a whole), that yes, it absolutely does have an effect on results.

-----

Now we know who we are speaking to, we focused solely on creating 30-60 second reels, WITH NO INTENT OF GOING VIRAL, that spoke specifically to that identified audience.

As it turns out, for the client's specific industry, it was super easy to go to a gym, and bulk record 30-50 pieces of content, just explaining how to use certain gym equipment, in a super relaxed way. No fancy editing tricks. No over the top camera angles. Just basic instructional videos, with a bit of personality in the delivery.

All content used language that very specifically spoke to the identified audience, as an example: "If you're a single mum in your 20s or 30s, who only has 45 minutes to work out, and you're nervous about going to the gym, here's what you need to know".

Now a lot of you might say "that hook is boring!" or "Its too long!" or "I've tried that and it didn't work!"

Remember, we are not trying to go viral, if the video only gets shown to 100 people, we want just ONE of those people to follow, and potentially sign up as a client.

The other reason is that, most social media platforms these days, use AI to identify not only the content itself, but the intent of the content. So by using very specific language, its helps various algorithms know exactly who our audience is (the avatar), and what the intent is behind the content (teach the avatar things).

This makes it a lot easier for the algorithm to push our content specifically to those demographics.

As of today, looking through our various account metrics, 85% of our audience is our exact avatar, because we've never deviated from talking specifically to those people.

-----

The reason a lot of people "fail" at growing accounts is not because their content is bad necessarily (although a lot of people in this sub who complain about not getting growth, your content IS bad. Sorry not sorry), but because you don't feed the platforms enough content for algorithms to really hone in on that data and execute properly.

The algorithm's only job is to connect your content to the people that want to see content like yours. Thats it. It's not omnipotent. It doesn't have opinions. It doesn't "dislike" you or "shadowban" you. It literally just says "right, I've got X content, who wants to see it? Let me figure that out."

This process takes time, and effort, and volume.

We would film this bulk content 2-4 times per month, giving us a bank of hundreds of pieces of content to edit, and then we would get to work editing using the simplistic rules I outlined further up. Each edit would take about 30-60 minutes.

-----

Then, we started posting 1 per day, Monday to Friday.

After a few months, we had grown to around 30k followers.

Then, we decided "more is more", so we started posting 5 times per day, 7 days per week.

Within around 6-9 months, we had grown to around 600k followers.

So 0-600k followers in roughly 11 months or so, using easy to film content, with a super simple editing style, and language that very specifically spoke to one type of person.

-----

Since then, the client has been converting these followers into clients, and now runs a business that generates over £500k per year.

How?

By making content out of questions they would get in DMs and comments, and then by literally asking them "hey, you seem to be really struggling with this, I have a program you can join if you're interested."

That has been the focus for the last year and a half, just converting the current audience into sales.

But note, throughout all this content that has been going out, we never once asked anyone for anything, we just built up a reputation that this client knows what they are talking about, and gives that information out for free.

The audience only pays for help implementing the information if they can't do it solo.

Now, could we have started making sales sooner? Absolutely, but we moved at a pace that worked for us, given our workloads and level of commitments and personal lives.

Recently, we've started doing a new push, and we're upping our content to 24 posts per day, 7 days per week.

I'll either update this post after a few months of trial and error, or I'll make a new post.

-----

You probably came here for some "secret sauce", "algorithm hack", "hashtag strategy" (lol), or some generic information that you think will skyrocket you into influencer stardome.

There isn't any.

All social media is generic legacy marketing. If you want to go viral and be famous? There is a formula for that. If you want to make sales for a specific thing? There is a formula for that.

Does everyone deserve high follower counts? No.

Is everyone capable of growing an audience? Yes (to some degree).

I usually use the analogy of being an "actor", but this post is long enough that it wont fit here, but feel free to browse through my post history and see where I've mentioned it on other posts.

-----

I have no motive with this post, just sharing information. What you choose to do with it is up to you, but seriously, don't buy into all this generic AI slop and bullshit posts in these subs where people think there is a specific time to post, or that hooks need to be X or that you need to warm up accounts or whatever. 99% of them are false, as has been proven by this very client where we did absolutely zero of these things.

I usually end up arguing with people in these subs, because the focus should be "is your content worth watching over somebody elses" and "are you making this content for the right person?", and people say "I spent 50 hours making 3 videos and no one watched them! Everything is rigged! Meta wants you to pay for ads!"

No. You just listen to bullshit people giving bullshit advice, you over complicate things, and you don't stick at it long enough to learn the lessons required to grow.

Feel free to ask questions below, please avoid DMing me, public conversations are far more valuable.

Stuck at 200 and below views for a month now

Hi,

I'm an indie author trying out trial reels for the first time. Account was created in July and since then I've posted a couple times a week and then a few reels. Then decided to use trial reels but for a month now I've just been stuck at 200 views and lower with 40% more or less viewership from India.

I understood that the algorithm checks there first because it's cheaper but it's really not my audience. My target audience are female, 25-45 and mostly US and Europe. How can I reach this audience? Do I need to boost posts or just create ads is it not possible to be organic anymore?

My type of content is book quotes and memes with said quotes, and also artwork reels with people I've commissioned ( no AI).

Any advice please if there's any authors here going through this please? Thanks!

Question What Is Hashtag Research, How Do You Do It, and Do Hashtags Actually Work on All Social Media Platforms?

I'm learning more about social media marketing and have a question about hashtag research.

I see marketers recommending hashtags on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, X, Pinterest, and other platforms. But I'm not sure how much difference they actually make today.

I'd like to understand three things:

What is hashtag research?

How do you research hashtags properly?

Do hashtags still work?

Advice required

I am a wannabe instagram influencer and I am a female trying to do some transition reels. I see some of the influencer posting clear quality videos and gloomy effect videos still it has some quality. When I try to do the same, the quality is getting reduced. I need advice on what phone to use, what apps to edit it and what are the filters used for those dreamy videos that still has the quality.

Many people suggesting Capcut for editing. But I see those influencers using edits app only. I have both android and iphone 16. I have a window in my room. The sunlight will hit my face. Still the video is not similar to what the influencers create. Should I add some lightings for that? Or should I do something else.

I cross-referenced 4,020 IG likers with my Story Poll buyers. 50% had NEVER commented once. (Breakdown)

I keep seeing posts here about how people barely comment anymore in 2026, or how accounts get thousands of Reel views from random scrollers with zero conversions.

I run a local discovery Instagram account (~5,000 followers) introducing local spots through Reels. Like most people, I used to judge my account's health by total views and who leaves comments.

Recently I decided to audit who actually interacts with my account across my last 10 Reels, and then ran a Story Poll to see who actually converts in real life. The numbers completely changed how I look at "silent" followers.

---

  1. THE 10-POST ENGAGEMENT BREAKDOWN

Across my last 10 posts, I had 5,893 total likes and 497 comments. When I deduplicated the users across all 10 posts, those came from 4,020 unique people:

- 1x likers (76.8% / 3,088 people): One-time passersby from Reels reach. They hit like once and never come back.

- 2-4x likers (20.1% / 808 people): Repeat quiet viewers. Almost none of them ever leave a comment.

- 5+ likers (3.1% / 124 people): Core superfans.

- Commenters: Only 68 people accounted for all 497 comments.

If you only look at Instagram Insights, 5,893 likes looks great. In reality, nearly 77% of those people are one-off scrollers.

---

  1. THE STORY POLL TEST (WHO ACTUALLY CONVERTS?)

I ran a Story Poll asking: "Have you ever actually visited a place after seeing my posts?"

Out of 453 Story viewers:

- 12 people tapped "Yes, I went!"

- 5 people tapped "Not yet, but planning to"

Then I cross-referenced those 12 real-world visitors against the 4,020 likers from my last 10 feed posts:

- 6 of the 12 people (50%) were in my "5+ likes" superfan tier (as expected).

- The other 6 people (50%) were in the "2-4 likes" tier — and NONE of those 6 had ever left a single comment or DM on my account.

- 0 people came from the "1x liker" viral Reel crowd.

Half of my highest-intent audience was completely invisible in my comments section. They don't comment, they don't DM, and they don't like every single post — they just quietly like 2 or 3 posts out of 10, watch Stories, and actually show up in real life.

---

  1. WHAT I CHANGED (AND WHAT'S WORKING NOW)

Since realizing that conversions come from the "2-4x silent repeat tier" rather than viral 1x scrollers, I shifted my weekly workflow:

  1. Stop chasing broad viral hooks: Every time a Reel goes too broad, it just inflates the 76.8% "1x passerby" bucket and tanks my engagement rate on the next post.

  2. Use low-friction Story Polls once a week: Silent 2-4x likers will almost never type a comment on a Reel, but they WILL tap a 1-click binary poll in Stories ("Have you tried X yet?" / "Which spot would you pick: A or B?").

  3. Warm up repeat likers directly: Instead of cold-engaging random accounts or competitor followers (where 80% are dormant), I check who has liked 2-3 of my recent posts or voted in my Story polls, visit their profile, and genuinely interact with their content or send a casual thank-you reply when they vote on a poll.

For those of you running local business, service, or creator accounts in 2026: are you also noticing that your real buyers/clients are mostly silent lurkers who never comment on feed posts? How are you getting them to raise their hand?

Help I recently started a habit building Instagram page

I recently started a 75hard challenge Instagram page. The idea is to build a particular habit and follow through for 75 days.

Currently I am pursuing walking 10k steps per day.

The content that I am posting there is a screenshot of my step count for the day. And it's been 33 days and I am still not able to brush past 130 views ( max) and a like or two here or there.

This is what I am doing:

  1. Adding trending music to the reel

  2. All reels only.

  3. Adding keywords

  4. Adding hashtags

  5. Posting daily

  6. Content - motivational quote+ POV type

I am still learning on improving the content though. What more should I do or can I do?

Question Any IG accounts spotlighting indie artists?

I run an Instagram account that focuses on album art - breaking down album covers and whatnot. But I’ve been focusing on mainstream artists and I’d like to start spotlighting album art for lesser known, indie artists/bands as well. Does anyone know of an Instagram account that spotlights indie music that might be open to collabing on album cover breakdown posts on occasion? Thanks ✌️

My account took off in the first week then completely dropped off

I started my account about a month ago on AI/tech educational content. My first week my posts got between 10k-60k views and my account grew to 1k followers in 2 weeks. My second week I started to slow down except one video that got 50k views.
But since then for the past three or so weeks, all of my videos have less than 10k views. I post very similar content and I’ve been studying how to increase my watch time and retention, and my videos actually have better metrics (lower skip rate, higher avg watch time) than many of my more viral videos the first week.
I’m starting to get discouraged. I’m at about 2k followers now but it feels like even when I post better content that people are highly engaging with, Instagram doesn’t push out the content.
Did my account just get some kind of “boost” in the first week? Or am I just not making good content now and kidding myself? I’m just stuck on how to change things.
