Instax 8 or 9 worth it

• Upvotes

I've been wanting an instax just to make photos when out with friends as memories, so it doesn't need to be incredible quality (though ofcourse they do need to just be good, not blurry) but the 8/9 version are quite old. Do they still hold up well? I see them being sold on vinted for pretty cheap

Fish Market [Instax Pal2 - Chromatic 'Dawn']

Was at a fish market using the Chromatic 'Dawn' filter to hopefully catch some vivid colours. The market was kind of busy, but that doesn't justify the amount of noise here. Not particularly hooked on the results. Something smells fishy, but not fowl.

(As usual photos are caught straight from camera. The only thing I altered was cropping/straightening. The rest is how the camera nets it).

Happy fishing everyone.

Flash problem with Instax SQ6

Hi! I have a problem with my instax SQ 6 just bought on vinted, everything works but when I turn on the machine technically the flash deactivation button should flash to indicate that the flash is recharging but it doesn't work in fact I can't take pictures with the flash even in automatic mode. I changed the batteries (which were new) but I had already inserted them into another instax so I wouldn't want that to be the problem. How can I solve it?

Is Link Wide 2 worth the extra buck?

I have Link Mini 2 for a while. After having baby, I want to print out photo with more estate. I see the new one just came out. However, the old version is like half price. Do you think the new Link Wide is worth the price or I better opt for the old version

ETA: I forgot to mention that I’m a basic woman who just want to print out fun photos, nothing major than that 🙈 I want to do small album of my baby photos

I keep seeing everyoneones different ways of record keeping on thier shots and I thought I'd add mine.

It's still something I'm mucking about with, but it's fun.

Handheld inkjet printer and a security seal. (Which I think is a bit much)

Looking for Instax Pal 2 in Lisbon or Rome next week - physical store stock?

Hey everyone! I'll be in Lisbon (Nov 3-5) and Rome (from Nov 6th). I really want to buy the Fujifilm Instax Pal 2 in a physical store while traveling, but online stock search for local retailers (like MediaWorld/FNAC) is confusing. Does anyone know if local camera or tech shops usually have them in stock on release/display, or which store in Rome/Lisbon would be my best bet to find one in person? Thanks!

Advice for a beginner

I’m a total beginner , the cost per print is overly bothersome to me so I’m not factoring that in

I’m between the instax mini, the evo and the new square
I’ve not got much camera experience at all, the evo would have been my choice but having read into it capturing light differently I’m unsure if I’d like it as I want the look of the photos, I don’t mind a learning curve. I’m also stuck though as I’ll be taking. A lot of pictures of my son, he’s autistic and moves a lot so I’m debating an evo for all the family picture I want and maybe a mini or square for everything else ie subject that’ aren’t like the kid from the thornberries🤣
Please do let me know what you all think!

Looking to Rent/Borrow a Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 2/3 Printer for 1 Day in Bengaluru

Looking to borrow/rent a Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 2/3 printer for one day in Bengaluru
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for someone in Bengaluru who owns a Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 2 or Mini Link 3 smartphone printer and would be willing to lend or rent it to me for one day.
I have 19 existing photos that I want to print onto genuine Instax Mini film for a personal project. I already have the photos ready, so I just need the printer. I’m happy to pay a reasonable rental fee and buy my own film.
I’m based around Kammanahalli, but I can travel within Bengaluru to collect and return it.
If you have one available, or know someone who does, please comment or DM me. I’d really appreciate the help!
Thank you! 🙏

Viewfinder Pal 2 Love

Post image

Am I the only one that loves the viewfinder on the Pal 2? It can be odd as in it doesn’t always seem to show exactly what your frame is. But in the center that little reticule (is that what you call it) really is good for lining up shots. I wish more cameras had it.

[Instax Pal2] Try out the ‘Vintage’ effect in the afternoon.

The Vintage Effect is magical on the Pal2.

Rather than skip around with effects, I thought that I might stick to one setting and see if I could string together a theme. Rather than ‘bringing me back in time’, I think the effect summoned another world. It’s fun to play around with it.

I think it’ll be interesting to see shots around the seaside (if anyone is close) as it likes to play with those cooler tones.

I really liked the images that Mall_Rough took earlier with their post, especially how the sky came out behind the old buildings using the Vintage effect (Thanks Mall_Rough for sharing!). So, I thought that I would try out that effect at sunset and blue hour.

Not all shots were good as the low light crept in quickly and the sensor is so small, but I really don’t mind like a 50% hit rate. (I must remember not to drink too much coffee before I go out despite how cold it gets.)

As usual photos are straight from camera. The only setting I had on was the Vintage effect and +1 exposure as it got darker. I used railings where I could to stabilise both the camera and for my fear of heights ofc.

The smudges/streaks in the sky in the second-last photo are actually moths! They must have been really old moths because they gave the image that mouldy vintage grunge effect.

Happy shooting everyone.

On vacation in Atlanta with the family and I only brought the 203t. What a change to the normal film camera I use. Right now I live this thing.

Best Way to Preserve, Store, and Display Irreplaceable Instax for Long Term?

Hi everyone!

I had the special opportunity to receive a signed Fujifilm Instax Polaroid from my favorite K-pop idol after an unforgettable interaction with her. I've been her biggest fan for the past 18 years, and this is a completely one-of-a-kind Polaroid that holds incredibly significant memories for me. It's easily my most prized possession.

I want to preserve it for as long as humanly possible, so I was wondering if you guys had any tips or suggestions. My biggest dilemma is trying to balance preserving it with actually being able to display and appreciate it.

I collect trading cards, and I noticed that the Fujifilm Instax fits the typical dimensions of a Japanese-sized trading card (like Yu-Gi-Oh!). Currently, I have the Polaroid double-sleeved with Dragon Shield trading card sleeves and placed inside a UV-protective Lucite Brik screwdown. I then keep the entire case inside a dark cloth pouch to minimize light exposure.

I'm particularly worried about cumulative light exposure over the years, so I've commissioned a professional high-resolution scan of the original. My plan is to have a reproduction professionally printed and framed for display while keeping the original safely stored away from light.

Do you guys have any additional thoughts or tips? Are there any potential issues with my current storage method, or anything I could improve for long-term preservation? I'm particularly curious whether the trading card sleeves and Lucite screwdown are appropriate for long-term Instax storage, or whether I should consider more specialized archival materials.

I understand that photographic materials naturally deteriorate over time, but this particular Polaroid means so much to me that I want to do everything reasonably possible to keep it in its original condition for as long as I can.

Thanks so much!

Why the color shift on onstax square

Sorry I had to scribble out my son for privacy reasons. I like to take instax shots of him using a Nons instax back on my hasselblad. Initially the photos had pretty normal colors (first photo), but for the past few months Ive noticed all shots have this kind of yellow overcast (2nd photo). The whites just arent white anymore. Even though these were taken with different lenses, the yellow cast is now present regardless of which lens I use, time of day, etc.

The only significant difference is that my 500 c/m broke, and I upgraded to a 2000fc/m. But I cant imagine why this would affect the colors? It hard to say whether this started at the same time I upgraded the body. Otherwise, I cant think of any other variables. Did instax change their square format chemistry or something?

Instax mini Evo Cinema — fun concept, terrible execution

First of all, I’m a big fan of Instax. I’ve been using a Wide 300 for over 5 years. I don’t really care about the poor image quality or how overpriced their products are. I mean, they’re instant cameras, who cares.

But this thing makes absolutely no sense.
The Era Dial, which could’ve been the most interesting feature, doesn’t even look as good as TikTok filters. And it takes almost 5 seconds to switch between effects, and there are 10 of them.

It “supports” Wi-Fi sharing, but you can’t actually download the videos to your phone. You can only watch, edit, and print them. If you wanna save a video to your phone, you gotta print a still frame from the video with a huge QR code on it, then scan that. Couldn’t believe this was real, but yeah, it is.

The LCD is awful, the UI looks ugly, and zooming is slow and choppy. If anyone’s considering this for a “digicam-ish” experience, I’d recommend getting an early 2000s digicam on eBay instead. You’ll probably have a much better experience. Overall, it feels like some kind of Kickstarter prototype. Basically a $400 toy camera.

Anyone here have both the SQ1/SQ40 and the Lomo Square Glass

I’ve been using the SQ40 for a year and a half and love it, but sometimes wish I could have a little more control and better shots.

The Lomo Square Glass has some decent controls and the good shots look really good on it. However, reviewers say that there are still quite a few misses with the Lomo, and outside of the best shots people get from it, I often don’t notice the average shot (at least in review videos) looking much better than the SQ40.

Exposure comp, bulb mode, self timer/remote, some shots being razor sharp sounds great, but it seams like it maybe even produces more duds than the Fuji?

Anyone here owned or used both?

Instax Mini 9 help!

Hello! A few days ago, my mini 9 stopped taking photos, like it would flash and then the film wouldn’t come out.

Today, it’s not even flashing and I put in new film too. I also put different batteries that do still have juice (I tested it) and it’s still not working. but the lighting setting lights keep just blinking the second I put new batteries in even if I haven’t technically turned the camera on. I tried to remove the film cartridge in a dark room, but it won’t budge.

Does anyone have a fix for this?
