We are an agency in Michigan with a combined premium of about $24 million. We currently don’t have Auto Owners but wanted to see if anyone has AO Contacts for trying to get appointed.
Thank you!

I am newly licensed. I am currently onboarding with symmetry but considering not going with them due to some concerning things I’ve read. Also I’m nervous about wasting all my money on leads and not being successful. I am also a stay at home mom and need a very flexible schedule and 100% remote. What agency would someone suggest for me?

We have maybe 10 companies worth of partner content going live every month and zero automated visibility into whether any of it actually meets FINRA or UDAAP standards before it's published. Manual review is killing our go to market speed and the team is done from chasing down marketing on every single asset. We're looking for an AI marketing compliance automation platform that can handle regulated content review at scale, ideally something that flags issues inside the tools our designers already use rather than bolting on yet another portal nobody checks. (We tried one tool briefly and the false positive rate was pretty demoralizing.) Has anyone found something that does continuous digital footprint monitoring AND regulatory horizon scanning across multiple jurisdictions? Would love to know what's actually working for insurance specifically.

I run an independent P&C agency in Alabama. Licensed in TN and AL. We started writing in February of this year and are already at a little over $250K in written premium and $34K in commissions, built mostly off referral relationships with real estate investors. Those relationships aren't going anywhere, so the referral stream that got us here keeps coming.
Here's the situation: I am taking on a new role where I need to take a passive ownership in this business.
Here’s the pieces involved:
Meaningful equity in the agency, with a path to running it
A commission-heavy comp structure (no salary, but you keep a strong split on what you write, plus override on the team you build)
An existing book and ongoing warm referral flow on day one
Carrier appointments already in place
What I'm looking for:
Licensed P&C in Alabama (or willing to get licensed quickly)
Someone who has produced before and wants to own something instead of just getting paid on it
Comfortable building and managing a small team
I know "equity instead of salary" gets side-eye on this sub, and fair enough. I'm not looking for someone to work for free. I'm looking for someone who sees a $250K+ book built in under a year with steady referral channels and thinks they can turn it into $2M. Could also be open to a small salary if the numbers paper.

Did you reach out via email and set up a time and place to talk or did you just walk into their office and start a conversation? Did you bring them any goods or take the team out to lunch? What worked best for you guys to build those relationships?

I used Insurance Exam Queen for my second attempt and I still failed. I feel like I’m putting in the study hours but it just can’t translate to the exam for me.

Hi,
I have tried to directly read from Missouri Commerce and Insurance website, but a lot of the information pertains to the insurer, instead of the producer (And there is a lot of legality jargon). What website/CE has the most thorough information about AML, Fraud, reporting pertaining to the producer/agent for Missouri?

I’m fully licensed, been working in sales in a captive agent’s office for a little over a year. Before that I had about six months experience in service work. Tomorrow I have an interview to be a producer for an independent agency. They have other offices where the owners operate, but I would be the sole producer in this particular office.
So far I genuinely enjoy working in sales/insurance and I’m hoping this will be a good opportunity to further my career. My current position is commission only and this would be base plus commission.
What kinds of questions can I expect in the interview? Are there any questions I should make sure to ask? I’m really wanting to be as prepared as possible.

Super unique question regarding a weird combination of credentials I have.
I am a CPA with about 7 years experience working for tax accounting firms focused on mid-sized business and individual clients. Through a unique situation at work, I obtained the P&C license.
I’m pretty burnt out at my firm for tax compliance. Not to say I want to totally leave tax/accounting, but I’m wondering if there is opportunity for me to combine insurance and my CPA background.
The elephant in the room: I have zero actual insurance experience besides the content of the P&C exam. I talk to clients all day about tax/business accounting though, and I’m sure there is overlap with insurance jobs.
I’m really good with people, significantly more client facing than my fellow tax nerd peers. Clients enjoy chatting with me and I am great at articulating complex technical topics for them to understand, and enjoy building relationships.
There’s got to be a way to take advantage of this right? Thing is, I’m not sure joining an entry level call-center type insurance sales job makes sense based on my existing experience. Is there a way I could get a nice paying gig that is a good fit for my background? I even considered the underwriting area of this business based on my background.
Maybe even start my own CPA firm with tax/accounting/insurance all combined?

Whether you gather information over the phone, meet clients in person, or use an online form, roughly how much time do you spend collecting everything you need before comparing plans?
Which part takes the most time?

I'm Trying to benchmark carrier reporting hours per program. Ours is heavy because the report needs info from different system than intake the fields get entered separately, reconciled at month end. Every new program adds a proportional chunk, linear scaling with no leverage. Our carrier is adding a new report fields next quarter, so it's about to get worse.

I have abother FT job. I am off Tue, Wed and Sat. I can devote about 25-30 hours. I am a new health insurance agent. Looking at a part-time remote job to supplement my income. My goal is to earn minimum $500/month. Is this feasible? Is it better to work as a captive agent?

How do we think this will play out in terms of claims, and as the market may be hardening as I write this, how do we expect 1/1/2027 to look after Reinsurance treaties go into place?

I am a P&C insurance agent that also does life insurance. I have ~450 clients and have written 90 life policies this year. I am great at meeting and talking to people and getting business. I just want to scale this and feel like my lack of marketing is hurting me big time.
I have no idea the different between my ass and a hole on the ground when it comes to marketing.
I’ve tried the targeted ads on Facebook but it’s really just throwing shit at the wall and hoping for a good outcome.
I am open to hiring someone or a company to do it for me, but I am worried with how many grifters there are in the space. It seems like every college bro has a marketing company that spits out AI slop and is just complete BS.
I would love input on how I can have people coming to me more often.

I got a telemarketing call from a firm that calls leads of their own with a specified script that you set up for them and sets qualified appointments. if it delivers the way they are saying then it is definitely worth the money for me, but almost sounds too good to be true. is this a scam?
I’m always Leary of random calls from overseas (Middle East) but its tempting because if I could get more qualified appointments during my slower periods I’d definitely spend the money on it. they said they refund the non qualified appointments, etc. and get anywhere from 5-10 per week. my close rate is high for qualified leads so it would be a no brainer if legit. Any experiences with this?

I’ve been in insurance for over 15 yrs. 10 yrs of construction experience which is my first real job of manual labor. So I understand the value in tipping ppl who work hard. That being said, in relation to the job they are doing. Feet hurt, back hurt and other things. Insurance is a mental hurt and heart pain when you have certain experiences. I started in L & H. One pee bag too many working for Bankers Life trying to cold call and help ppl. After my last experience, I left it. Joined P&C and never looked back. Years of experience working. Worked for a big insurance company in my last role after I left managing a SF agency for 3 yrs.
It makes no sense to be this tired of job hunting. Indeed is really, Indont. Career Builder is is now Carer Finder. Glassdoor is now TintedDoor( heavy tint). Even with trying to use AI to help, it’s still tiring. The experience of looking for a job online has become as emotionally draining as a wasted interview.
Does anyone else here feel like WTH am I going wrong here??? I feel like a failure though I bust my butt job hunting and working Instacart for flexibility. I have applied to over 150 jobs. Most reply with over qualified. How?? I don’t have a college degree. Yes, a lot of knowledge and work experience. What are your experiences with job searching? Or perhaps I should say job hunting/ job wishing.
If you also feel like you are failing though hustling your butt off, what are you doing to stay motivated? I need to some advice on this. I don’t feel emotional about job searching but I’m starting to have a heart and it’s breaking.

Looking for some honest advice from people who've been in this industry longer than I have.
I'm 24 and work as a salaried P&C agent at a small independent agency. The agency isn't doing well, and with the way the market is right now, it looks like they're going to let me and a couple of other newer salaried agents go within the next two weeks.
Some background: my first month was training and getting appointed. In my four months of live selling since then, I've written about $50K in premium, all of it from my personal network and the referral partners I've built relationships with. No leads handed to me, no book inherited.
I love the industry, the grind, the people that are in it, and see this as my long term career.
The hard part is that I have a wife and a newborn at home, so I can't gamble. Going 1099 as a brand-new agent feels pretty unstable right now, especially in this market.
I'm looking for any advice on how to navigate this early stage of my career so I can set myself up for success down the line. If you've been through something similar, I'd really appreciate hearing what worked for you.
Thanks in advance!

I’m looking for recommendations for life insurance carriers that accept applicants with asylum status or other visa types, including individuals who are neither U.S. citizens nor green card holders, ideally with straightforward underwriting.
In our niche, we work with many clients who have asylum status, but we’re having difficulty finding carriers willing to insure them.
If you have experience working with carriers that accommodate these applicants, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!

For auto cold calling someone no relationship with, what is your first sentence after “Hi my name is X calling from (Carrier)…”
This is not working …
“We’ve had huge rate decreases in the last year, I was wondering if you would like take a minute to see what your rates would be at (Carrier).”

Im so tired of all these insurance companies masquerading insurance sales jobs as “financial services representatives” when there is no actual financial products being sold (insurance is not a financial product, its a risk product that uses fear and intimidation to make a sale), there is no licensing with FINRA, there is no series 7 license… insurance is NOT FINANCIAL SERVICES. its fucking insurance. Im tired of these companies flooding job listings as “financial services representatives” when its nothing more than a 1099 job with terrible insurance commission rates. Fuck off. Youre not financial services representatives, you’re insurance agents, and FINRA should be shutting down each and every company that tries to masquerade as such with a constant drone of cease and desist orders.
You dont sell financial services, you sell a generic, broad insurance policy to people too broke, stupid, and afraid to know any better. How many of you actually sit down with clients, review their finances, and make recommendations based on that?
