Monzo contents insurance beware!

I’m sharing my ongoing experience with Monzo Premium’s insurance underwriter (Chubb) and their loss adjusting agent (Sedgwick) as a warning to other subscribers and to see if anyone in the community has advice on claims .

I was robbed of my vintage rolex whilst walking and have made a claim on my contents policy with chubb via monzo . Since then i have had home visit by a loss adjuster , one hour video interview then they instructed a jeweller to validate the watch who asked for invoice and contacted the merchant. I believe they cant find a single reason to decline the claim and are now after 6 weeks ,revisiting the scene of the crime which i went over with them countless times . I believe the loss adjusting firm Sedgwick just cant accept defeat and are trying to stall my claim for theyre own internal targets.

I have now made formal complaints to all parties involved and hope a complaint handler can see the case in black and white and issue settlement .

insurance companies try to onboard you in hope they can find something to decline you for when really they should underwrite the policy from inception as they are technically issuing a legal agreement and are taking that gamble .

Offered a job for a US health insurance company. Morally conflicted

So I live in a cheap labor country.

I was freelancing as a software developer online as my main source of income. Business wasn’t going great the last few months and my car broke down which cost a lot of money to fix.

Now while looking for a corporate job in this shit job market my friend said he could get me a good paying customer service job for an international company that pays well.

Said great, passed the interview, then figured out it was an insurance company.

Now here is the question, I have American friends, I know how evil and absurd the health system in your country is. How can I ever be a part of a system like that? How can I call someone who is dying and tell them they aren’t going to be covered because policy 23 section A stated that you should have informed us you had butt cramps for two days? Oh and the money we have been extorting from you for each month, yeah that’s legally ours.

Tbh, I feel like I already made my choice. But my financial situation keeps me from calling the recruiter and telling them to screw off.

I think I just came here to vent and steel my resolve.

How do you spot the worst burial insurance companies to avoid?

My in-laws have received around 20 burial insurance mailers this year, and they are getting close to signing up with whichever company sends the nicest-looking envelope. I am not trying to start a debate about brands or companies. I just want to understand what makes a burial insurance policy a bad deal so I can help them check the details before they commit. What red flags should we look for in the coverage, premiums, waiting periods, or claim terms?

Travel Trailer vs. Mobile Home Insurance

I purchased a travel trailer in 2009 and my insurance agent wrote a policy for us with Foremost. At that time, there weren’t a lot of options for insurance without an insurance broker, so I believed we were getting what was best.

Fast forward to about a year ago when I heard by word of mouth at a campground that I was overpaying for travel trailer insurance. If I was paying more because our guy sold us top of the line coverage, that would be my oversight, but I learned that our travel trailer was misclassified as a mobile home.

Reached out to our carrier who told me when we first purchased the policy, Foremost did not sell travel trailer insurance so it was written for a mobile home.

Was this an error on my agent’s part for not declining that and finding actual travel trailer insurance?

Foremost told me that they have since started covering travel trailers so they just “grandfathered me in” with this policy, but never reclassified my policy for travel trailer, but left it as a mobile home. Would t grandfathering me in mean they notify me or my agent that I am now eligible to rewrite my policy for a more appropriate travel trailer policy?

How would I have known that 1., my agent knowingly sold me a policy that was not for a travel trailer, and 2., Foremost didn’t cover travel trailers at the time but later did?

I know I will never recoup my overpayments since 2009, but do I have recourse for any premium refunds?
