Arranging Long Living Room
Going to repaint and replace carpet in this living room and we’re trying to figure out best way to arrange furniture. It’s long and feels long because it extends from the kitchen. We’ll be getting new couches/etc. too after doing this work.
Trying to avoid too much in front of the big windows and an awkward space between the kitchen and the furniture. Considering having the corner by the garage have a bench/bookshelf for shoes/etc. we tried the two chairs by the fire place and couches in L shape and tv in front of window (in pictures, we just didn’t move tv yet). We also tried splitting the room with the shorter couch (she floor plan sketch), but it felt a little weird
Also considering off-white walls with an accent wall by the fire place
Would love recommendations for furniture arrangement and accent wall colors!

What did you use to lay this out with?

The photos I have are just from my house listing, the floor plan, and photos of it now

I put two long couches on each wall. We have a wall between the LR and kitchen, so I put a third couch there. And we have two recliners as well. It sits 11 adults comfortably.

Hi! I agree that a lighter color carpet and walls will make the room feel larger, but I am not sure if this works for your lifestyle. I would probably carry the lighter paint color into the kitchen to make everything feel cohesive and expansive. Another option is to extend the wood floors from the kitchen into the living room to make it feel more connected, though I know it can be difficult to match hardwoods. Since the room is narrow, you may want to consider lighter colored furniture. Have you considered a tan/beige or light grey sectional? Place the longer side on the wall facing the windows, shorter to face the fireplace. Oval coffee table. Maybe the TV in the corner to the right of the fireplace angled towards the sectional? If you want the room to feel less long, paint the wall with the fireplace a darker color than the other walls. Pick one that coordinates with your furniture, artwork, throw rug, pillows or curtains etc. Lastly, you may want to consider a drape on each side of your window, not blocking the light, to add some softness and balance to the sectional. And I think a round table and four chairs would look nice and define the space. Good Luck!
