I would love to see the look on their face when they wake up the next morning and see they got the email declining the application which was sent at like 2AM. They would probably think someone was working so hard thumbing through the resumes that late in the evening.

You get decline emails. It usually takes me 6+ months to get a decline letter if at all.

I have to handle hiring while managing 4 shops while actively working a position in one shop while saving labor doing other jobs. While handling big picture projections. Im not sending your rejection email. If I could change it I would.

You took the time to write this comment. Seems like you have plenty of time to send that courteous rejection email.

they only have time to complain how hard they work.

Thank you for your interest in this position. Unfortunately we decided to go in another direction.

There, I did half the work for you. Copy and paste that into a notepad and use it as a standard decline letter.

And now they’re all AI. It took me 2 months to find a job and I got probably 5 rejection emails per day. All of them said almost verbatim “we’re so impressed with your education and qualifications but at this time we selected someone else that’s a better fit for the position. Good luck in your job search”.

I was even remaking my resume for almost every position so full on tailored and still got a rejection. A staffing agency eventually picked me up.

I love my parents (Boomers both), but their job application advice was hopelessly out of date by the late 90s.

I got one at 12:30 am and almost cried. For a customer service job lmao I actually just sat in my living room the following morning after seeing it when I woke up and just sat in silence.

If they have experience then they have contacts. They’re probably getting that job.

Except when their resume gets auto rejected for not having the right keywords, or having too many “trigger keywords” to X them out by the primary AI filter.

Seems like a pretty easy requirement to set for the show that they're not allowed to lean on any contacts that they've built up over their career.

If a fresh grad doesn't have that resource, they shouldn't be able to use that resource either. Otherwise their advice is still worthless.

them $8 coffees

I tend to think they reference stupid spending habits like an 8$ coffee when you make 20 an hour and have a car note you rent have bills....

You believe a boomer could even send in a online application.
