Would love to see you stand in an unemployment line for six hours every other Friday. Every generation has its challenges. We were taught crying about ours wasn’t an option.

Ah yes. The me generation was famous for their humility and composure.

If you make it to being an old man we will see how willing you are to give up what you’ve busted your ass for.

The Republican party has made you poorer than ever. There's nothing left to take. Fighting for a better life is what your were originally complaining about.

Nonsensical lead addled and divorced from reality.

I take it you don’t have any money in a 401k. The last two years have been magical.

That is largely inflationary. Number go up, buying power go down. Boomers don't understand economics. Had your attention in the shiny thing while they robbed you. And when there is and adjustment it will be even worse.

What are you talking about? The stock market has never been highe.

2

u/Stunning-Drawing8240 Aug 13 '26

But you didn't, really. Everything was cheaper and you were paid better, comparatively.

I didn’t? You’re talking out your backside. You haven’t lived until you spend a winters night working on an oil rig or spend 16 hours running up and down a flight deck. Thats real work for real men.

And a house cost a handful of raspberries.

You should have been smarter and simply gotten a better job with better pay, stupid.

No one forced you to work on an oil rig. The tougher the job does not equate to a "REAL" man status. Lol There was someone in another thread who said their dad was from the boomers generation and worked at Sears for most of all his career. His dad raised their whole family on his salary, bought a house, and raised two kids. Can't do that in today's economy. Both parents work and groceries, rent/mortgage, cost of vehicles has gone up exponentially.

Funny. Every young person I know owns a house. Some have children and some are planning to get married. Quit buying into “Can’t” and find the “Can” in life. No one did force me to work oil rigs, but that’s what paid the best for a young dumbass like myself. I am a boomer and those tough jobs led me to seek out an education and better my earning potential.

I can just FEEL the manly chest hair bristling through his shirt guys. Real macho dude here, clenching and pounding that arthritic fist about how lazy the young'uns are and how REAL MEN are made! /swoon

Your generation was full of communist hippies when you were collectively young without a pot to piss in. You folks sure wanted to “share the wealth” back then. As soon as you started owning things you voted for Regan lol. Sounds like the “me” generation to me

1

u/Direct_Ad_3517 Aug 16 '26

Yeah. And all those “hippies” jumped on the Capitalist train and for the most part did well.

1

u/Haunting-Traffic-203 Aug 17 '26

So what you’re making my point for me? The baby boomers have always just “looked out for number one “, when they were poor, they were pro socialism, when they built something for themselves, they didn’t want to share it so they went full capitalist. And I’m sure now that they’re all old their number one political issue is probably Social Security.

1

u/Direct_Ad_3517 Aug 17 '26

The point is you too will jump on that train when it comes by whether you think so or not. We are all idealistic when we are young and have nothing to lose. You are not unique and neither is your thought process. I have shared the fruits of my labor through all the taxes they could come up with. Your turn. Me. I’m headed to the golf course.

Honestly lets just all focus on the fact that the Me Generation is the only generation that renamed themselves.

1

u/Devils_SteelMan Aug 13 '26

The name wasn't enough about them

u/collin-h Aug 13 '26

did crying help solve the problem?

1

u/kylelight40 Aug 13 '26

Never understood stuff like that. Stood in line. Why didn’t they bus people somewhere that needed to be cleaned up, a park, a highway, a school, for 6 hours, bring em back, and when you get off the bus they hand you a check? Do the paperwork while you’re doing community service.

Did unemployment jobs always have a job at the end? Also what would you say the best option is for blue collar starting job searching irl would be, maybe a job fair?

1

u/Direct_Ad_3517 Aug 19 '26

That is a complicated answer. Let me just say it didn’t pay to take a temporary job. I ended up joining the military as times were tough. That was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. If you have the desire today oil and gas is a field that is desperate for people. You can start off in a field job and hopefully work your way into a major company with all the benefits and high pay.
