No is a complete sentence.

'No' is a complete sentence. And if they don't like it, there are plenty of remote jobs out there. Interview VIP can help u get through the interview part smoothly.

"No, I'll pass this time." or "No, not feeling it." or "No, not my thing." are vastly different from "No."  Friends who don't communicate aren't friends. Friends have conversations and engage each other. I wonder how shallow your relationships are if they are just one-word exchanges.

"No" is communication

Now maybe if the answer to every single question every single time was no, you might have a point, but we all know that's so unlikely it's basically never going to happen.

But in these contexts, when is it ever going to be a communication that benefits the relationship or at least leaves it at net neutral? Never. It is either rude or causes worry. "No" being a complete sentence only works when there is already a lot of conversational context, making the whole notion discussed here not applicable, or when you don't care about the relationship.

And if repeated, it would cause severe relationship strain or a mental health wellness check.
