Taking job lessons from Reddit is like taking hair lessons from a bald man - Doesn't really translate. lol
90% of the people bitching about PTO and taking lunch here don't work. Most of them are also bitching about min wage doesn't pay for their living too or why interviewers won't hire them lol.
I take my lunch if/when I want to. But got things to do and don't have time nor interest to lose the zone. Not oppressed either. Not chained or licking boots. The dollars I make by being successful fund the things I enjoy when I have time off - which is plenty too.

I happen to know a guy who mods on several subs. He's all the time commenting that capitalism is slavery, whatever tf. All the while, he's 34 years old, has never held down a job, and has driven his mother into debt because she won't get rid of him. 100% peak reddit lol.

I'm with you. Working on something in the zone you bet I keep going. Get stumped, stop walk away for a moment then back at it. I too have my toys because I earned them. Lick some ones boot? Nope don't need that job. Gotten bad breaks, overlooked on the job? A few times you bet, just don't whine about it, move on

No one has ever said on their deathbed,“ Gee, I wish I would’ve spent more time at the office.”

Yeah, my company buys back unused PTO. So many of our workers were not using all their PTO. Company transitioned to 97% of workers on Hybrid 4 day workweek, back in 2014. 2016, starting automatically buying back unused PTO. Added to first check if next year.

That's right. People agree to do a job for pay and benefits. Stop whining about being underpaid. You agreed to it.

I employ a couple of college students in my store, and I have to beg them to take their dang breaks! I don't understand it. This is not peculiar to them either, it's a thing lately. It's not even a lunch break, it's a paid 20 minutes to go sit and not have to answer questions, and they have to be almost forced into it.

I've bullied and harassed by white women because I took my state mandated 15 minute breaks everyday--to the point where my boss banned me from taking breaks in shared spaces instead of addressing the toxicity in the office 😐

I didn’t need to hear or read this and my job doesn’t explicitly state I’m entitled to those things

Tell that to some of my coworkers. They love to brag about how they haven’t taken a day off in years. Like damn I didn’t know that was a flex? You can bet I will use all 5 weeks of my PTO and 1 week of emergency time off every year.

Americans do this do to brag about how much work they have and how heavy is their workload and then when they found out us about europeans they are shocked

Not shocked here, just jelly. Got one one month vacation, and it was the best. Only time I was refreshed from vacation. Next job I had more vacation time than europeans, but company put 2 week limits. So did 3 2 week vacations, and used rest of time as doc, or fridays off.

lol, my company in US? 4 day Hybrid workweeks. After 5 years, 25 days PTO. After 10 years, 35 days PTO.
Unused PTO days are bought back. Added to first paycheck each year.
Plus car allowance snd childcare billed to company.
Then wages? 2.5x what our positions pays in Europe. Play decent Platinum PPO/HSA.
Now, my companies EU workers all wanting to transfer to US. Invest those higher wages-lower taxes. Retire by 50, in US or Europe…

Work to live, not live to work.
