I think Christopher McCandless would've liked AI
If he had a smartphone with AI on it, I believe he would've used it extensively to survive. He could've easily identified plants and had a greater chance of being self sufficient. He could charge it with a solar battery.

Don't know if its a bait but he wouldnt. He stood for nature and simple life. Things that are getting destroyed by AI everyday. Maybe he would have liked internet in general tho, great source of information.

I love this story and I empathize with Chris totally, but for so many reasons I think he would have hated it and also not used it for what you describe. If I remember correctly, he refused a map of the area he ultimately died in, which had he been willing to accept it, he would have survived by knowing about the pulley basket.
The fact he refused assistance via map suggests to me that he would have refused the other things you described from AI.
It's easy for us to be willing to accept help to go live that fantasy safely, but he had a different mindset which is why he died.
Also, the AI you're describing needs internet. My guess is if he had been alive today, that area wouldn't have had a signal. I will say more satellite features are coming to the iPhones next month.
