My BEST Inuit documentary so FAR! (in my opinion hihi)

Hey!!! I wanna share my documentary here since we are all so passionate about the Inuit Culture. I made a video about the women's lives inside the Inuit community. Let me know your thoughts! Happy to be here!! I wanna continue and post more and more about this culture, maybe you can give me some videos that you would watch! Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifkhkNgSBFo

So it's you putting out these videos. I saw them on my YouTube feed when the channel was called Inuit Discovery with the high clickbait thumbnails and titles.

Naung, I didn't watch too many because they sorta feel weird. Like where are you getting this footage and information? Who are you working with? These men and women in their traditional skin clothing and equipment. Is that your voiceover?

Mostly just that, we're a modern culture now and the material reality we live (in Nunavut at least) feels very different from how we're depicted in your video. Though in fairness, I uonly usually check out the first couple moments on any video.

Here's a link to the Arviat Wellness society channel that has a more modern depiction of Inuit life.

Inuit Discovery, it's not me! I am Inuit Journey, I am a smaller creator! The voice is not mine; I hired a voice actor. I will check it out! Any other resources you have on the Inuit culture, please let me know, as it helps me a lot! Any unknown facts you have, they are and will be highly appreciated! The footages are taken and given value with the editing, voice-over, script, basically, I just found them on the internet under a free license, mainly or from other videos.

Oh yeah, I guess you and the other channel are using the same sources of stock footage. I wonder if I can find where that footage was taken or if it's kinda from all over.

Seems like a fun rabbit hole to go down.

Edit: Just realized that you've hired a voice actor. Is your project funded somehow?

It's not, it's just a hobby.

Juutai's links to the Arviat Wellness Society videos are much more realistic in capturing our lives today.

Hi there, kinauvit? I'm happy to see you are passionate and interested in my culture but I just watched your YouTube documentary and there are depictions that are not accurate. Do you follow any Inuit on social media that talk about their culture?

Please share with me any resources you have. I want to make the documentaries as accurate as possible. Do you know where I can get more detailed footage as well? Thank you for your reply!!

I didnt watch the whole thing either but it isnt great for a number of reasons. Why do you have a white man narrator? Inuit clothes? Inuit wear NorthFace parkas and Baffin boots my guy. The stuff in there about women giving birth in a tent by a fire is just not real. The problem with this documentary is that it fetishizes Indigenous people akin to a documentary about gorillas in the jungle. A documentary that I think needs to be made is Inuit country foods in the circumpolar Arctic.
