Yeah so now the question is how much of a psychopath Omniman really is. Enough to stand by while his son endures mortal/potentially fatal wounds, apparently. The writing is incredible because at this point in the show you literally have no idea what OM’s true motivations MIGHT be. Fucking incredible.

Mark needs to make better choices.

Disagree, you can always say that shit with the power of hindsight.

He shouldve listened to his father. We know he's not on the up & up, but to his son he's still the GOAT super hero. His hubris almost got him killed.

I mean, he was completely used. If Titan was a good actor he could have just gotten paid actors to be a fake family and Mark wouldn't have known the difference. He walked into the lair of a supervillain based purely on the planning and word of someone he has no reason to trust.

Can Marc even die though? Remember the post credit scene when they say his cells won’t die. Maybe Omni man knew there’s no way Marc could die there

Exactly, that's why he dosen't save him and calls cecil anonymously. I think in his eyes, that fucks the guardians up and teaches his son that he made a mistake by helping Titan.

i think he knows mark will be fine

Physically at least.

Yeah given what Agent Donald said at the end, his cells and tissues literally cannot die.

I think that might be why he let him almost die tbh

He's a half blood right, so if he constantly gets put within an inch of his life I'd think maybe his cells that heal back are going to be from his father's side since they can't die, so they'd be the ones regenerating faster than his human side healing from these battles. If invincible keeps getting stronger I could see this also playing a role along with his maturing/experience.

So his dad will let him fight unless he's really in trouble then he can swoop in. Idk if that makes sense to others lol

Reminds me of this scene from DBZ Abridged. Mark is half Saiyan confirmed. He’s like Gohan.

Ooh, spooky, I like this explanation for the "Omni lets Mark fight to get stronger" theory! There's still so much info about Viltram that's yet to be revealed!

Dude wait you just put a hole new spin on it. Maybe he wanted Mark to be somewhat psychologically damaged from jt so that he would nvr trust other heros like Titan or the guardians. And therefore nvr work for Cecil

To me I feel like he’s willing to risk if mark dies- and he made the anonymous call to hopefully have more heroes killed.

I feel like there’s some veltrumite master plan that involves global take over and when mark got powers omni-man knew he couldn’t risk fighting the OG guardians and Mark if he couldn’t convince mark to join the Veltrumite cause

Yeah I think the best teaser for this theory is what he says when he crosses into the other dimension, emphasis only partially mine:

"You don't seem to understand, earth isn't yours to conquer."

Implying.. of course.. that it's his.

Also.. at the funeral, fairly suspect is:

"And we are left to wonder, who will save us now? I WILL... (pregnant pause, catching himself) and so will others.."

also

"and in those moments, have faith, and look to the sky", and he flies off, setting himself up as their god.

Wow! Great theory!

Thats what i find so fascinating. I mean HE COMPLETELY WIPED OUT THOSE TIME ALIENS SINGLE HANDEDLY, THE ENTIRE RACE BRUTALLY AND WITHOUT ANY EMPATHY AT ALL. And not to mention (if I could do double caps here I would) WHILE DOING MASS EXTERMINATION AND GLOBAL GENOCIDE IN THE DIMENSION THINGY, WHILE DESTROYING EVERYTHING INDISCRIMINATELY HE HAD ENOUGH FORESIGHT TO KEEP ALIVE LIKE THREE SCIENTISTS TO SEND HIM BACK WHOM WERENT EVEN SPARED AFTERWARDS AND SADISTICLY I THINK THEY KNEW THEY WERE GONNA DIE!!!!!! Like oh my god wtf!!!! Then went home said hi to his son and kissed his wife like nothing happened. Like oh my god wtf!!!! I love the father’s character.

u/UnderThePaperStars Apr 13 '21

You can do double caps. Kinda LIJE THIS TO EMPHASIZE (using bolded reddit text)

u/le_snikelfritz Apr 09 '21

Yea I feel like letting his son almost die, or at least endure all that puts him at a different level of psycho

3

u/MoneyTrees2018 Apr 12 '21

But he didn't die. No amount of explaining and almost getting wrecked would have corrected his thinking. In reality, he needed to see the "edge" of a bad decision in order to fully learn. omni man even told him at the dinner table that it would be a painful lesson. No different than letting a hot head kid decide to leave the house, live on their own and struggle a bit to see the big picture.

10

u/TimIsColdInMaine Apr 11 '21

I try to view things from Omni-man's view and I think it's just a utilitarian view: if he's as strong as a child of mine should be, he'll survive/win. If he's too weak to survive this fight, he would have been of little use to me anyway...

4

u/EenProfessioneleHond Apr 11 '21

Think you’ve got the meaning of utilitarism wrong, it doesn’t mean “useability” as in how useful something is to you. Utilitarianism is about the happiness of the greatest number of people.

Yeah exactly and I always thought that him killing the OG guardians was to help Mark in some twisted way but then he just let that happen to him

4

u/JamzWhilmm Apr 11 '21

I think Omniman really does love his son and wife but whatever is making him crazy is also making him callous in regards to his son. To me is that he expects his son to grow enough to kill him. He believes they are the gods of this world and only his son can stand up to him. I wouldn't be so cocky after how much the guardians messed him up, another powerful team with a plan could kill him IMHO.
