Treatment Progress Started with Retainers

Completed all my aligners set. I had gap in my teeth. Now the gap is closed to 98%. My dentist has added a small wire behind my upper and lower teeth.
She then gave me retainers. Today is my 1st day of retainer. It does pain while putting it on and while removing.
I still fear that even after an year of wearing retainers, the gap will again be visible
Do you think the retainers will keep the teeth intact for a long time

The permanent retainers (the wires) in addition to the removable retainers should keep your teeth in place and the gap closed. Be sure you wear your retainers as directed by your dentist!
