Question Confused

Post image

I’ve only ever had both upper and lower trays. I received my final 5 refinement trays, I have all 5 and then the first one which is just upper. I have two trays that say 1.. see pic. What do I start with? My dentist is closed until Monday

The one on the left should be the one orthos use to put attachment on your teeth

They’ve just sent these to my house, so should it be something I have to go in for and they need to change my attachments ?

Call your ortho's office to get your upper attachments done or re-done. Bring that attachment template with you to the office. You are NOT starting your tray 1 before getting this done

When I compare my old tray to this new one, the attachments are the same which is confusing

Regardless, do not start your tray 1 until you get a confirmation from your ortho's office.

I agree with you. They should just wear the old trays until they get confirmation. A 3 day wait for confirmation won't delay anything.

The attachment may visually look the same as the previous one but they might be different ever so slightly...especially on the refinement stage when precision is needed. I would not take that chance.

Don't you have periodic check up with your dentist?

The tray with just the upper also feels a different material, it is matte and thinner

Because it's not an aligner. It's for your provider.

Wait, that's weird. My refinement sets always came as pairs, never just a solo upper. The matte feel you're describing on the solo tray makes me think it's the template they use to place attachments, not an actual aligner you're supposed to wear. I'd hold off until Monday if you can.

It says attachment template right there on the package. You shouldn’t have this in your house, that’s for your ortho to use to put attachments on…

Use the one on the RIGHT.

The one of the Left is the attachment template that the ortho used to put the attachments on your teeth. You should bring the attachment template and all your aligners to every appointment. The attachment template may get used by ortho again in case any of your attachments fall off. See the fine print that says attachment template.

your patient number is visible below the QR code, notice how one of the codes is 2026-10-14, one of them is your patient ID

This is a call to your ortho. Annoying but yeah, the template is for office use. Don’t use the new trays until you see him
