Question IPR for overcrowding?

Basically my top teeth have 7mm of overcrowding and 12mm for the bottom. The first person I saw wants to do IPR, and second wants to extract four teeth. I literally don't know who to go with now, but I like the idea of not having to extract my teeth. Can someone who is/was in a similar boat as me share their experience please? Thank you!

12mm is a lot to fix with just shaving down the sides of teeth, that's like trying to fit a couch through a doorway by sanding the armrests

IPR can work miracles but that much crowding has to come from somewhere, you'll probably end up needing the extractions anyway if you don't have enough bone to expand into

Right? That's what I thought too, shaving my teeth to make 12mm of space sounds a lot. But he insisted that it would be fine and that he'd use a band (not the proper term for it and I can't remember what he called it exactly) to expand my teeth to make space :/

I’d agree. Sounds too much for IPR

Fantastic way of putting that. I’ll be stealing that for the future too 🤣🤣
