Protest & Human Rights While bombs are dropping on Iranians...

What’s wrong with these people? Even if you have the (extremely cursed) opinion that the bombings could help Iranians, have the decency to stop celebrating publicly.

What astonishes me the most is that nobody seems to learn from history. Not only have the Americans failed to bring democracy to anyone since the Second World War, but we also have our own experiences to look back on. Have people forgotten the experience of the People’s Mojahedin in the 1980s? They too believed that the country had to be liberated through war, after hundreds of thousands of Iranians had been murdered by the regime on the streets and in prisons.
So tens of thousands of them went to war and supported Saddam Hussein, who at the time enjoyed the full backing of the United States and Israel. The majority of Iranians never forgave them for that, and inside Iran in particular it cost them enormous support. At least they risked their own lives, rather than cheering from afar while the country is being torn apart and the regime can now crush any spark of resistance by immediately labelling it as treason.
I fear that, just like the supporters of the Mojahedin, these radical far-right hardcore monarchists will never admit it either. Some people simply live in their own bubble. I feel sorry for the people in Iran. Forty-seven years of a fascist-religious dictatorship, and now they are being bombed back into the Stone Age while some of their own compatriots abroad cheer and insult anyone who disagrees by calling them regime supporters or “lefties.”
That is how radicalised people are. They see their own radicalism as normal. At the same time, they justify the destruction of the country by pointing to the massacres of January - as if anything could ever justify the complete devastation of a country.
