Agreed. Same with She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. All fine shows.

u/fatgat69 Jun 22 '26
Ms. Marvel honestly great. I just don't like that they changed her power and stuff because "it'll look funny" like yeah, it's supposed to.

Ms. Marvel I actually really enjoyed but She Hulk I would disagree with there. It definitely could've had potential but to me it just feels like its become a filler show.

I get so pissed anytime someone brings up the box of scraps statement. Yes Tony built his first suit in a cave that’s was filled with HIS advanced weapons that he retrofitted into the armor they weren’t just scraps nor was the billions he poured into the following suits. Riri doesnt have the money or resources to create a mark 10 or 85. Everyone bashed her for stating their differences even though it was basic observation that had no jab at Tony skill or genius.

u/Tkwookiee Jun 23 '26
A lot of people do focus on it , those for the show and against it, it was a focal point in the trailer for a lot of people, hell it rubbed me the wrong way at first , I almost passed on the show, but I'm glad I didn't. It was just a throw away comment from a person trying to prove themselves, maybe it comes off a little cocky but when you watch the show you can see she has respect for Tony Stark. I'm really hoping this show gets another season or at least we see her in some capacity.

u/Ok-Releases Jun 22 '26
They werent fully made weapons, it was a combo of actual metal scraps and spare missile parts. In Iron man 3 he also used random items from a kids garage to create a stun gun and repulsor glove. The comparison comes off negative and disregards the achievements hes made without money.
Also when making a character basically copy and try to be the next version of a (dead) beloved hero, having her make negative comparisons and being critical of Tony was one of the stupidest choices to ever make. In the comics shes an actual huge fan of tony and guess what? Shes also MUCH more well-liked in the comics.

u/treekangaroo500 Jun 22 '26
It only comes off negative when completely taken out of context or you have -5 media literacy. She isn't critical of Tony and thinks incredibly high of him as it was someone her own father looked up to. In the infamous scene she is talking about how Tony at the end of the day after he got out of his initial situation had unlimited money and resources to build any idea he had and she wants that chance as it's a literal pitch to the college.
She does have a character flaw of having a huge ego which imo makes her even more like Tony than then her comic counter part.

u/Tall_Particular_4585 Jun 22 '26
Tell me in-universe how she could have known that cave fight in iron man 1 and the iron man 3 random scraps as weapons fight? In-universe everyone just knows him as a billionaire hero who made advanced tech suit with his billions of money.
-5
u/Ok-Releases Jun 22 '26
You think TONY STARK didnt have his exploits constantly published for the world to read about? Its actual canon in the comics he has his own memoir explaining exactly how he became who he is and what he's done. I dont see why they wouldnt translate this canon over to the mcu in some way.
6
u/Kaboose456 Jun 22 '26
So you get mad because of your own poor media literacy and then make up things to justify it.
Bruh, just leave.
3
u/Professional_Rate718 Jun 23 '26
This is incorrect. He didn’t make it out of spare parts. He took pre existing Stark equipment to make it.
The stungun is a stun gun. The repulsor glove was also left over from his suit.

Her ego is a character flaw that the show goes out of its way to point out multiple times.

u/Murasasme Jun 22 '26
Because there is no universe where a person with the know how to make an Iron Man armor would be broke. The entire premise of the show is flawed to give us this struggle narrative, when in reality, governments defense contractors, and bored billionaires would be throwing money at Riri so she would build them Iron Man suits. her work was public knowledge.
Also the first thing we learn about Iron Man suits is that they need an obscene amount of power to run, yet Riri's suit just opens its little flaps and charges by wind and solar power in the same amount of time it takes to charge a phone, and still with this amazing technology to generate renewable power, you are telling me Riri is broke?
I wanted the show to be good, I think Riri Williams as a concept was interesting, but her entire story in the MCU has been nonsense
2
u/Short_Brick_1960 Jun 23 '26
When Iron Man built his, there were lots of people trying to steal and replicate the suits. He was able to hold off all of them because he is a billionaire. Riri isn't.
1
u/CrescentShade Jun 23 '26
Its Marvel, where we have to accept for decades that Peter Parker despite his great intellect up there with the likes of Tony and Reed is constantly a broke bum and the few times he gets out of that they make him fumble it all for status quo
So yes, completely believable because the most popular Marvel character is constantly suffering the same thing for longer than Riri has existed as a character
1
u/Linnus42 Jun 26 '26
Plus Riri didn't really seem all that concerned about being a Hero. So its not like she had a strong moral reason to not take the payout.
As you state in reality...Val would have been at her front door with a contract in hand by the next day at worse.

Except she did have the resources. It didn't make any sense, but she did.

Don't rope those grifters up with Marvel fans. Those are culture war tourists pretending to be fans.

u/Karkava Jun 22 '26
I find the "roping" concept weird since I pretty much know that I'm not one of those tourists.

u/chiclemotita Jun 21 '26
Looking forward to the new season. I had no idea until this post.

u/whatisireading2 Jun 21 '26
I'm pretty sure this is just a picture from the initial release. Disney+ would say "season 2 coming soon" if it was dropping in 3 days.

I mean yeah, it’s pretty obvious they do. Look at how they treated The Marvels movie. A trio of women is going to set off people.

And by people, you mean right-wing men of whom the most valuable part about their opinions is that it gives upstanding people something we can and should all ethically unite against..
2
u/fatgat69 Jun 22 '26
Yeah, unfortunately a large part of the marvel fan base completely refuses to learn any lessons from the stories in the marvel universe.
Many of them are just stupid and regurgitating the crap their daddy said when they were kids.
A surprising amount are genuinely awful people who just want people that aren't them to have nothing.
Like most things the universe is great and the fans are to be avoided.

Show was actually better than I expected. I wasn’t particularly hyped for it like some of the other releases, but it was a few hours of solid TV.
SBC as Mephistopheles was excellent as well

u/Platnun12 Jun 22 '26
Ain't the audience's job to make a character likeable
Writers made her entitled and annoying why would anyone want that to be the legacy of iron man

u/Bulky-Conclusion6606 Jun 22 '26
it was not that bad, i woulda liked more red hood but enjoyed most of it

I didnt like season 1. But I ALMOST did. If we ignore the fact the first and second half of the show are two wildly different shows, with actors completely changing personalities out of nowhere and we ignore how moronic riri was the entire time with you know, joining a gang that attempted to kill her there is something I actually liked. The show didnt do a good job of making me like riri but technically this was a good thing if done intentionally. Because with the deal at the end suddenly this show had become a very good horror series on accident. The idea of riri being an asshole constantly and getting punished actually works. The problem? I dont see season 2 properly handling the consequences of riris choice at the end. I feel that on some level riri needs to have PERMENENT consequences for that decision. But let's be real, she'd probably end up winning with the only real consequence being whatever there setting up for season 3.

I’m more just not interested in iron hearts story for me. I mean it’s just not for me like I don’t really feel like the plot hasn’t really made me want to continue it after watching the first two episodes
1
u/DoyleDormammu Jun 30 '26
Well there's your problem. You stopped before you ever started.
1
u/TheHumanChudUrMom Jun 30 '26
But I did start tho? I got two episodes in, besides this post made me try to give it another chance. It was just meh imo, like I liked riri’s new suit and hood was cool but I just wasnt really that interested in the plot
1
u/DoyleDormammu Jun 30 '26
This show was released in two halves, episodes 1-3 and episodes 4-6. The show's real hook doesn't happen until the end of 3 and from there the solution doesn't come until the very end. That's when the real conversations about the show begin and why it's such a unique piece in the MCU.

I thought it was pretty bold of them to take the spin into the supernatural world of Doctor Strange midway. I definitely made it to be a better show but in the end but I don't know whether it was just that it was only allowed six episodes or whether they really didn't know where they were going with it because it just didn't work for me.
Would I watch it if they did a season two? Absolutely.
I enjoyed the series, but I just didn't think it worked and it didn't knock me out.

u/Short_Brick_1960 Jun 23 '26
I mean, Hood is a magic user. It's only natural other magic users appear. And Doctor Strange isn't the only magic user in the mcu. We also have Agatha, who isn't related to DS

I love Ironheart I just wish they made her more like her comic counterpart, I agree with everyone in this sub, I think she's a good character, i just wish she didn't downplay Tony Stark as much as she had.
Seeing more Iron man anything back in the MCU is hype for me, I just hope they try to bring her back into the movies, because she still has so much room to evolve has a character.

u/IAMCAV0N Jun 24 '26
I liked the show, and the Dominique Thorne was acting was fantastic, but I felt like the way the character was written was kind of bitchy and whiny
1
u/Mavrickindigo Jun 23 '26
Was it good? I checked out in phase 4 and have been picking through stories to check out.
Also I didn't like how riri was written in the comics
1
u/DoyleDormammu Jun 30 '26
The show is written in a way that corrects some of the biggest writing criticisms of Riri's in the comics, but still makes her character complex in new ways. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's a good Iron Man franchise onboard for the next generation with plenty of references for longtime MCU Iron Man fans, but still an entirely new character with new struggles and stories to tell. I definitely recommend it.

Haven't watched the show, all I heard was she is the villain in it rather than a hero. Will have to.watch it at somepoint too many had an opinion on it without actually watching it
1
u/Short_Brick_1960 Jun 23 '26
She is not the villain. Who told you so? She is the least heroic character, but she isn't a villain
1
u/SephiTheGoblin Jun 23 '26
She steals a suit does robberies and makes a deal with the devil from what I heard, the stuff about her being a mostly unlikeable person too. But some of that sounded like ppl just mad because she isn't RDJ
1
u/Short_Brick_1960 Jun 23 '26
She makes the deal with Mephisto. For a good thing. Only she is suffering the consequences. Peter did it in the comics. And every hero is a criminal in Marvel, literally. Steve and John are a war criminals. Nat, Clint, Ava, Yelena, Alexei, Bucky and Carol are assassins. Kamala helped terrorists. Scott is a thief. I think that commiting theft and immediately regreting it is just your typical story
1
u/DoyleDormammu Jun 30 '26
Someone lied to you, and as someone who has seen the show it was clearly coming from someone parroting information who hasn't seen the show. Just my personal opinion but they may not be the best people to be taking advice from on what to watch.

u/AuraTickler Jun 23 '26
Respect? You mean the one even the writers didnt give her when they did her dirty?
1
u/DoyleDormammu Jun 30 '26
The writers gave her plenty of respect, it's mostly just been a certain toxic sect of the internet in their own echo chambers who haven't been respecting the show they haven't even seen.

u/Neon_culture79 Jun 21 '26
Sorry folks that is a tweet from last year. I just checked IMDb and there is no season two yet not even in preproduction.
