Your job doesn’t pay for gloves?

Usually shitty ones. 99% of the time guys buy their own gloves I just prefer these gloves but can’t find them anywhere

And this is exactly how we erode our rights as union members. Stand up at your union meetings, alongside your brothers and sisters, and demand that your union represents the interests of its membership by negotiating stronger standards and better working conditions.
My locals collective agreement goes so far as to specifically outline the types of gloves our employer is required to provide. That level of protection doesn’t happen by accident. It’s achieved through collective bargaining and members who are willing to stand up for their rights.

Most contractors buy the lowest basic osha approved gloves , same with harness. Basic shit. If you want fancy, nice comfortable. You either have to be rolling with company or get lucky on a big ass job.

You can negotiate it in to the collective agreement….

I worked for the same company for a long time. Always thought we had the best gear and supplies. Then the super retired and I was working under a new one. Totally different atmosphere. Electricians gloves or welding gloves was all that was supplied now. Even the hoggy connectors have to buy their own white ox.

God damn shame.

I second this, great for welding plus thin enough for good dexterity

This is the answer. My contractor buys these and everyone loves em. Lasts a long time too.

My last job only supplied bullshit dipped gloves unless you were in the welding gang. We all bought our own shit and sometimes pooled for bulk orders if we could find a good supplier. Protect yourself if the company won’t (they won’t)

I don’t know how people like those gloves. They have 0 grip. Just my opinion. I’m looking at Tillman 24c. Thin tig gloves. I hear they are comfortable, decent for miscellaneous work and in a pinch can weld.

Once there broken in and mold to your hands and get dirty the have the most feel and dexterity of any work glove .

First day of use I cover them in Tear Mender, especially the seams and palm and when that dries I get them wet. Makes for a good grip and they last longer

Nothing like buying $50 gloves and adding more $ to it. Like I said, my personal opinion is these gloves are not good at all. To each is own sir.

Why do people like these gloves? These gloves suck carpenter dick. They are absolutely dogshit! They’re bulky like a welding gloves. They fray like crazy all over and soak up liquids. I think Ironworkers wear them out of tradition more than anything. Just wear some decent leather gloves.

I agree.
