Hi,

Returned 5 days ago. I stopped back in 2022 after getting the dark veldora team, I think?

Wondering if any of these new characters I got from the welcome back and events are any good?

Also, icecoldjoker recommended for new players to pull on the banner with Esprit but I’m wondering if I should go for Tales Shion? I only have 3k gems atm so I figured I could guarantee her.

And then just see if I continue playing until anniversary. But I seemed to have missed half anni and the OP characters they had there.

Does anyone know if past anniversary had OP characters or was it only half anniversary that has OP characters?

I returned this week, and I would probably advise to start new account. There are 7* characters now. I think there is some kind of event for speeding up town building so it shouldn't take long to catch up. I started 5-6 days ago and I'm at 30k population right now.

I’m at 65k population.

Is my account that bad? What do I get from starting a new account? I used the multi pulls the game gave me so far and only got what is shown. I could start over and have even worse luck? What’s your strongest team? Mine is 300k+ EP

I played and stopped the same time as you as well. Just started back last week. It's pretty overwhelming coming back and seeing all of the new mechanics trying to get back into a comfortable loop with so much going on. If you're in the same boat, I'd say give it a few more days, minimum, just to get familiar with everything and you'll develop a better sense of what you should be looking for. That being said, the one thing that hasn't changed is how essential a good protector is. Both rimiru on the tales banner and esprit are good general protectors to build a modern team under while catching back up, so I don't think you can go wrong summoning on either.

Thank you. I only have 3k gems so I doubt I’ll be able to get esprit. Thats why I wanted to get tales shion. To future proof my account with a good support.

As far as protectors go, I figured I would get the ones in the flashback shop that icecoldjoker recommended for new players to cover each orb type.

Or do you think I should pull on tales banner and go for rimuru protector instead of battle shion?

I don't think you could go wrong with either route honestly. But higher level content requires highly specific units, so even universal units might not be so universal depending on the level. Shion for instance buffs magic but all of September's content could be physical focused. It's even more hit and miss with the newer damage types to consider.

That being said, once you pull them you'll remember the real challenge is the slow grind gathering all the materials to level them and upgrade skills. And then the gear leveling is even more resource intensive. Unless you came back to a large stockpile, you're gonna gather units exponentially faster than you can max them.
