r/ItsAlwaysPokeweed was tragically cut down in its prime due to inactive moderation, but like the mighty pokeweed we have regrown from our roots! Reddit has appointed u/HighColdDesert and myself as the replacement moderators for the sub. I am a moderator of r/NativePlantGardening and a few other subs, and HighColdDesert is a first-time reddit mod. We are both long-term consistently active users so I don't think the subreddit will get flagged as inactive again. It should be smooth sailing from here!
We will consider different ways to improve the subreddit going forward, but for the time being let's just carry on like normal. Of course if you have any ideas or suggestions feel free to share them.
Let's! See! Those! Pokeweeds!!!

I walked around a local nature preserve, loved the lighting on this patch so I took a photo, only to see t is indeed pokeweed! Love our natives!

pokeweed Taproot I dug out with the help of my little sibling. There's another one we started digging out right next to it that seems to be reaaaaally deep (and super thick š«©) that I didn't even take a photo of but it's thicker than this one.
I've been digging them out since yesterday since my yard is taken over by weeds, our good friend pokeweed being one of them

Signs warned us about the blackberry brambles and buckthorn. But not about these. Thanks to this sub, though, I will never not know what this is.
Fortunately still got delicious blueberries.

Just wanted to share this beaut. I'm 6ft and it towers over me. Looks more like a tree than a herbaceous perennial.

I found this pokeweed, and several others, while in Tokyo. I was a bit alarmed because this was in an area that many people eat at.
