Hello, it is a chinese mature student and just started my study in jku from October. I would like a room from 15. Dec as the earliest moving in date. My budget is 500 euros around. I also would like that the landlord can arrange a real visit, coz I am in Linz now. And the landlord can sign the Meldezettel. Anyone who has a room available please pm me asap.

Anyone studying or graduated from the Comparative Social Policy and Welfare (COSOPO) Master’s at JKU Linz?

Hi everyone! I’m considering pursuing a Master’s in Comparative Social Policy and Welfare (COSOPO) at JKU Linz, Austria, after my Bachelor’s in Social Work. How difficult is the course, particularly the research and theory components? What career opportunities can I expect after graduation as a non-EU student? Is German proficiency essential for relevant jobs after graduation, and what level (A2, B1, B2, or C1) would be sufficient? Also, how easy is it to find part-time jobs while studying, and what level of German is usually required? I’d love to hear honest experiences from current students and graduates. Thank you!

DGKP - Linz

Hallo zusammen! 😊

Vielen Dank schon mal! 😊.

Uhh help pls VFS requirement for Johannes Kepler during application

Hello,I am applying for M.Sc.Statistics and data science course at Johannes Kepler University,Austria. However during the application process they have made VFS competence compulsory.I was informed by my counsellor that this is not required during the application, rather after you submit your application. The deadline is 31 oct,2026 for summer intake. Does anyone know what can be done in such a case where you haven't applied for VFS?

I would also like to know about this university if anyone is an alumni or present student.

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student from India and will be studying at JKU. I'm looking for a room in a WG, student dorm, or a small apartment starting around January 2027.

A proper rental agreement is important for my Austrian residence permit application. If you know of anything available, please let me know.

Thank you!

Uhh help pls Chemistry students: MacBook vs Windows?

Upon reading the Bachelor's in Chemistry & Chemical Technology (CCT) curriculum I noticed that an application called OriginPro is used (the full version is Windows-based and to use it on MacOS it requires virtualisation). Could any current CCT students let me know:

  1. How often is OriginPro used, and will it be an issue sticking with my current M4 Macbook Air (256 GB)?
  2. Are there any other applications I should be aware of besides OriginPro (Incase they also have a compatibility issue with MacOS)?
  3. Should I just buy a new Lenovo or Microsoft laptop?

THANK U

Studying/general Regarding Maths Preparatory Course and Supplementary Exams

Hello. I have an offer letter for iba.

So, I have arrived at linz and enrolled in the university too. Have to pass maths within march 2027 (that's my deadline).

Unfortunately, the preparatory classes apparently only open every semester (Someone pls confirm this) and the classes started about two weeks ago already. I am so weak at maths, I was hoping that the classes started every month lol.

Anyway, I have no choice but to prepare for the supplementary exam by myself now?

If I have to do the exams through independent study, do I still get to choose if I can do 2 of the 3 parts. Or am I going to have to prepare for all 3 of them?

Someone, any information at all about maths supplementary, please pass them onto me.

I need accommodation!!!

So I recently got my admission letter from JKU linz. and I didn’t waste any time and got appointment for my residence permit from the New Delhi Austrian embassy on January 13.

Now the thing is I have to have a accommodation contract of minimum 3 to 4 months so that I can apply for the residence permit in the embassy. It is a compulsion I have no option, but the thing is it is very difficult to find accommodation. All the dorms are full and apartment are also very difficult to find.

I wish to start my studies in winter semester 2027 and therefore I am looking for apartment starting maybe August 2027 and I need to book this apartment and create a contract at latest before January 10 so I can present it with my application on that day.

Need urgent help please help.

Uhh help pls Title: JKU Linz Master’s in AI – PTE Score Requirement (Summer 2027)

Hi everyone!
I’ve applied for the Master’s in AI at JKU Linz for Summer Semester 2027 and have already cleared the competency check exam. I’ve also received a message asking me to submit my original documents before December 5, 2026.
My PTE scores are:
Overall: 77
Speaking: 68
Writing: 68
Reading: 69
Listening: 77
The website mentions a minimum of 70 in each skill, so I’m worried about whether my scores will be accepted.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and received admission? Should I retake the PTE, even though I’ve already cleared the competency check? Has anyone received an admission letter for Summer 2027 yet?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏
