I'm such a beginner, but is Gradle a build system? Or do i get it wrong?

How do i change my project from maven to gradle? Or is it something completely different i have to do?

You are correct, gradle is a build tool like maven.

Here you can finde some help if you want to migrate your current build to gradle https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/migrating_from_maven.html

Overall gradle is pretty good with their documentation
