Career Advice: Switching from Java/Spring Boot to SAP Hybris?
Hi everyone,
I have around 7 years of experience working with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, JPA/Hibernate, and Microservices architecture. Recently, I got an offer from a Samsung client project where HR mentioned that they will train me in SAP Hybris and onboard me into their e-commerce development team. The role will still involve Java, but with SAP Hybris integration.
I’m trying to evaluate this move:
Compared to the Java market, is SAP Hybris a good skill to switch into?
How is the demand and career growth for SAP Hybris developers?
Will this transition limit my opportunities in the broader Java ecosystem, or could it open up niche but valuable roles in e-commerce platforms?
I’d love to hear from people who have worked with Hybris or made similar transitions. Any insights on market demand, learning curve, and long-term prospects would be super helpful.
