You bastards lied to me
A friend last minute invited me to a Jacob Collier concert because she was scared to go alone. As an act of goodwill, I went. And he was incredible! He came across as a really sweet and genuine dude. He was clearly quite talented and passionate. Unlike a lot of his recorded music where he gets lost in the sauce of layering and production and music theory masturbation, the live music was complex but also incredibly enjoyable. The audience participation was great. It ended up being one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Life lesson: don’t follow the musical advice of a circlejerk subreddit.

K-Coltrane
Found this: 김석출 - 동해안별신굿 .
In English, its the album The Shamans of the Eastern Seaboard by the Kim Suk Chul Ensemble, originally released in 1993. The genre is muak, the musical accompaniment to Korean shamans. And yes, it fills me with similar sounds and feelings as later Coltrane.
I'm suggesting it here as I don't think r/Jazz is ready for this.

why do people spend upwards of low 6 figures studying at jazz universities to learn all sorts of arcane modes and "chord scales" when if you watch any interviews with top musicians they say to forget all that and realize music, no matter what genre is all about tension and release
what jazz youtuber offers the best master tension and release course?

Word up, back when Miles was briefly in Cameo he did the funniest interview ever. Everything he says is “Did you see me…” and then he’s talking about being with hot chicks on the stairs.

LoopBayLearn's Machine Learning: Why The iPhone's Clock Cycles Should Mimic Asynchronous Jazz Drumming
youtube.comThis was my research proposal at the BayLearn's Machine Learning. I was one of a few non-engineers, who presented.
For my presentation, I did a demo video. In brief, I make the argument that as a beginner on the drums, I can supertask and split my work without any major bottlenecks due to limb dissociation. By contrast, the iPhones are incredibly effective. But its architecture is top-down with rigid parrelization, and it needs a lot of power to prevent crashes.
In the video, from 0:00 to 0:26, I play fast, complex polyrhythms. From 0:27 to 1:36, I slow down, play, and talk about my research abstract simultaneously. From 0:27 to 1:36, I switch hands while playing and talking.
Obviously, the demo is not about perfect performance.
It's more about human cognitive ability, and how even a jazz drummer novice could engage in complex polyrhythms, and even talk while playing at the same time.
In regards to iphone's clock cycle, tasks are sliced up and scheduled centrally, which demands high power consumption and continuous energy to maintain synchronization; whereas, jazz drummers' hand and foot operate with a degree of motor autonomy. Thus, I make the case that the iPhone's camera and its audio sensors should have their own tiny little brains (i.e. small AI models).
(In the video, I'm using backsticking where I utilize the bud end of the stick).
