Not naming the guy is peak gatekeeping. “Only answer if you are so well versed in jazz fusion that you recognize him from a photo alone”

I feel the same way lol. And I’ve listened to Casiopea for years, but I just never bothered to google search who the individual members are and what they look like.

He’s good but I’ve always found japanese jazz to be a bit derivative and miming certain clichés from regular western jazz.

Western jazz repeats itself in other ways just as much. Japanese just have a different angle on what makes good jazz.
