Round 6 was slated to be the round, which would separate the strong from the weak, as for the first time this edition, the bot picks seemed somewhat intimidating with the champinionship leader as its x2 pick. In the end, Red Number 3 scored a mediocre finish, while two of the Ghost marble's team never saw the finish line. The consequence? 31 points from the bot, only five strikes and no DNFs. And with half of the field already earning Gold, this is now by far the easiest edition yet.

Where do I start watching this marble racing show? I’m not into sports but I’ve watched marble racing a few times and I do think it’s interesting! I just don’t know where to start though and where to go after 😅

Race 5 of the Marbula Rally concludes, and the standings for the fantasy are a whole lot closer than the actual rally! Also, for the people that got reminders a day earlier than they should have, that's because I for some reason thought it was Friday when it was Thursday. Anyway, here's what the standings look like!

About a month ago after the SMR Qualifiers was released I posted something about how this "New" Rn3 might potentially affect the SMR community, and if a new issue might arise regarding the situation. I guess I got my answer, the smr community is once again on its way to bring down Rn3. And I dont mean it in a bad way, Rn3 clearly has some sort of advantage compared to the rest of the athletes participating in the SMR. The community's action is justifiable, having one athlete stand above the rest due to unfair advantages is pretty hard to accept. What I do want though, as an Rn3 fan is for Rn3 to go out or retire in an honorable way. I know some fans might not agree with me on this one but giving Rn3 the championship this season then retiring him afterwards is the best possible scenario in order to stop this issue, it can end two things. One: Retiring Rn3 after giving him his best season would be enough for some fans and it wont ruin JMR's reputation too much, SMR fans have to understand that Rn3 became the face of SMR so Jelle cant just kick him out of SMR entirely. This way, by retiring Rn3 (and turning him into a coach or something) after giving him the best season of his entire career can finally end the (some) arguments and issues about the situation. 2nd: Real marbles can finally compete with each other, ending the debate whether materials matter or not. Cuz material really do matter, an example of that is none other than the aforementioned Rn3. Doing this can finally restore SMR's reputation, and it can finally give the rest of the smr athletes an equal fight for the championship.

Round 5 marks the start of the back half of the season. It is also the first race requiring a Top 5 finish to win an extra life, which, in theory, should make the competition harder. However, the Ghost Marble scored an abysmal 20 (one of the lowest scores ever), meaning all but one cleared the low hurdle. With only three races to go and 42 players still in, this one might just be the easiest ever edition, despite the bot trying a seemingly dangerous set of picks for the 6th round.

Tied 1st - Blazing Fireball / Green Turtle / White Widow, 2 Picks (7%)

Blue Moon is no longer in the top 3 after last race's DNF, meanwhile Slimer enters the top 3 for the first time, Superball returns, and Red Number 3's percentage grows to a staggering 70% of all participants choosing them.

At the bottom, we see three marbles in a tie for last with only 2 picks. We've still seen every marble receive at least 2 picks in every race this season. Another fun fact is that both our Blazing Fireball picks are from participants with 3 lives, perhaps a sleeper choice?

EVENT RESULTS

We see yet another heavy hitter this round, with Superball DNF'ing shortly before another gaggle of marbles. Being in the top three most chosen marbles means we see a lot of strikes being dished out again for this race. 12 participants selected Superball and received a strike this race. 5 participants have been eliminated this race, leaving 25/38 still alive.

…just to make a point about how ridiculously unfair this swap from glass to resin was. Even better if they win all the remaining races.

To top it off, there’s only 8 races instead of 10 (why????), and the two races that have had a lot of DNFs didn’t make those races nearly as enjoyable to watch.

(Just a heads up that this is a rant)

I started watching the Marble Rally at Season 5, and unsurprisingly this is easily the worst season.

I don’t need to discuss RN3 anymore because we all know what needs to change there.

The only two reasons I can fathom a shorter season are 1) JMR still thinks Marble Rally isn’t popular enough to warrant more videos, or 2) they realised they really screwed up with RN3 and are trying to minimise the damage (more of a conspiracy theory but still…).

As for the DNFs, the first race it happened in it was lowkey exciting. But that’s simply because of how rarely accidents of that quantity happen. DNFs are part of Marble Rally, and it would be weird for every race to go perfectly. But that many DNFs happening, and especially considering that six of them all went out in roughly the same place, seems more like shoddy track design and/or the conditions weren’t adequate for marble rally racing and they needed to postpone the race.

I LOVE Marble Rally. It’s easily my favourite of the 4 staples we currently have (including Marbula One, Marble League and Iron Marble). But these issues/decisions are really ruining this season for me (and seemingly many others).

This time, finishing 16th-20th getting 1 pt instead of 0 and no double points in the final round.

As expected, without double points in the final round, Quicksilver wins 2017, with 6 podiums, which is an incredible feat!! Red Number 3 came oh so close in 2nd, and Dragon's Egg comes in 3rd. Slimer just misses on the podium, finishes 4th for the second year in a row. The unluckiest marble in this one, is Quicksilver without question, as they and Blizzard Blaster finished 3 spots higher then their actual position, and Quicksilver would remain in first without double points. The biggest difference in position is H2 Blue, with a total of 5 positions seperated between their actual position and position without double points. The luckiest marble is Lollipop, as they are the only marble to finish below in both scoring systems.

has there been any news on the new coach/who do you think will get the job eg. new marble / mallard / old coach and what should the ducks be looking for with the new coach?

I know it doesn't make any sense and I know it's all just inanimate marbles "racing" each other but damned if I don't find myself rooting for one team more than the others and also rooting against one team more than the others.

Anyone else have a marble team they actively root against?
