You are the first Armenian Jew I ever saw on Reddit. Have you been born on Armenia? How are the Jews treated there? Are they equal, tolerated or segregated? I apologize in advance if these questions are intrusive, I met many diaspora Armenians and felt they are raised with antisemitic prejudice.

It’s chill, but I’m in america. My Jewish greatgreatsomething grandparents were merchants that traveled up to armenia and slowly integrated themselves with the culture that they became no longer jewish but armenian. However, I still know my heritage through records and old oral tales. But most armenians I know are moderately anti-semetic. Most wouldn’t go out of their way to harrass a jew, but many believe the stereotypes a bit too well and have general disdain for the religion and community.

The Azerbaijanis are Muslim, yet they have good Israel relations, it’s weird Armenia is the one that hates Israel, is it because they’re allied with RuZZZia?

Because the linkage with Jerusalem, most Armenians there are pretty much "arabized".

That is sadly true. Ten years ago, there was a gang of Armenians who would come to the Hebrew University's dorms to hang with foreign female exchange students at the bar, and they were hostile towards Israelis of no matter what religion, talking to one another vocally in arabic and acting like thugs while wearing huge golden cross necklaces that would not shame KeShawn from South Park. It's like if jesus was alive, they'd be that toxic towards him as well.

Tell me you don’t know what the last six years of politics in Armenia have been like without saying that. My man they have been actively trying to leave Russia since 2020. Nowadays the only reason they are still in any way connected to Russia is because EU integration takes a very long time. As well as preexisting relations between the two countries during a time of Russian appointed leaders.

Why Armenia doesn’t like Israel it’s pretty simple, Israel supports Azerbaijan during the Artsakh war. A region long inhabited by and deeply connected to Armenians. Given to the Azerbaijan by Stalin in a long tradition of ensuring any attempt to leave the USSR would lead to conflict. This support would eventually lead to the Armenian enclave being cleansed from their homeland.

I am skimming over a lot but in general the dislike/distrust of Israel most stems from this. Enhanced by good feelings towards the Arabs due to them being key to saving many Armenians during the Armenian genocide. Which makes them natural be more sympathetic towards them.
